Martin Chuzzlewhit in the first fella. Yours ?

Cityhull - spent a good hour in there before racing - Cats got a pitcher though for 3 of us so worked out cheaper that way.

Speaking of York pubs, The Knavesmire, £4.20 for a pint the barman seemed embarrassed charging that much

But what a day, Frankel was unbelievable

I've been living in Belfast for 6 odd months and a pint here is on average £3.70 in the pubs.I paid £3.90 in The Morning Star last week,a no fuss city centre bar with a punting and racing clientele.

Restaurants and more exclusive venues (the ones that turn me away) charge about the same as York.

I went in after racing (first pub I saw)

Dex you don't mind paying in a decent venue but this was a back street pub, would love to know what they charge on non race days

I was in Glasgow's West End a few months back and was charged £4.50 for a pint of Perroni.

Whereabouts in Belfast are you Dexter, was born there and lived there for 27 years. Upstairs in the morning Star does some great grub from what I remember.

Just a couple away from York today...

3.30 Newm - Marias Choice, 6/1...
6.35 Hamilton - Jeannie Galloway, 6/1...

Singles n Double...

One for Dex on Nora Batty watch today... 7.40 @ Hamilton - Tilthefatladysings...<laugh><laugh>

I live in Stranmillis Balicks. My local would be Cutters Wharf on the river,10 minute walk.

Fair point Cityhull..looks like they hiked the prices to exploit the racegoers.

Sounds good Oddy.

Very similar in Spain although varies vastly from North to South, the latter being much cheaper.

Either way there aren't pissheads anywhere to be seen...I don't think raising the alcohol unit tariff will solve the problem of the binge drinking culture in the UK.

We're getting to the stage where such behaviour is well established and tolerated into the third generation in some families.
