Sad news that PRESVIS, who had recently been retired, died last night after an attack of colic.

Morning, team. Hope everyone well. I must confess that I don’t go particularly mad about Cheltenham today – it’s a satisfactory card but really no more than this in my view. In fact its got a somewhat strange look to it with the penultimate heat being for amateurs only and the ‘lucky last’ for conditionals only. Plus, it’s weakened considerably by Mr Henderson only saddling 2 beasts!

If someone held a gun to my head though, although I’m sure that no-one would ever want to do that, and asked for a tip re the meet I’d advise Sea of Thunder in the novice chase. Chasing has always appeared to be his game and he looked ultra-impressive on his debut in this sphere. Meanwhile beware of the old ‘Pertemps Qualifier’ at 3.20, people, these are strange contests with half the field only entered in order to qualify for the Final whilst amongst the other 50% there are usually more plots than in an Agatha Christie novel.

Well done, Oddy. You are awarded a ‘bonus point’ for that prediction. Talking of ‘more plots than in an Agatha Christie novel’, by the way, has everyone seen the field for the ‘lucky last’ at Ascot tomorrow??? Cor blimey I get the impression that there are a few plots about in that heat.

Amazing in fact to consider that race is the ‘poor relation’ on the card in Royal Berkshire tomorrow but it actually accounts for almost 40% of the runners at the fixture!

Ascot are suddenly being very cagey about the state of the going on both the round course and the straight course with seemingly very terse and limited responses as to the true condition of the old turf. We may not get a true reflection until the jockeys have aired there views after the card commencer in Royal Berkshire tomorrow. Personally, I'd advise sticking with horses who have proven form on soft/heavy and not going into the meet as an afterthought.

I have the Ascot card sewn up already, one of the easiest cards ive ever dissected, stonecold certs at good odds, I suppose its easy when your dealing with horses you know inside out, you know who the best horses in the conditions are, you dont even need to look at the form, its all about class.

And sad to hear about old Presvis, classy horse on his day.

And King Of The Nights hurdle form is violently ordinary, he wont be winning today, that race concerns 3 animals, Go All The Way, Carlito Brigante and Domtaline, be surprised if King Of The Night goes off any shorter than 13/2, rated 157 <laugh> ill crack the jokes, hardly surprising they have to send him over fences after that liberty taken by the handicapper after he won an egg and spoon cart horse handicap hurdle at Nowheresville, wont make much of a chaser imo and long boring road ahead with him.

Good morning all, and welcome Magicsandal - Good luck with your picks...<ok>

Had a go at the cards again, not with much running on them though, they have enough to worry about without my money jinxing them...!!!

Fakenham...
12.00 - Haymarket, 7/4
12.30 - Sentimentaljourney, 9/4
1.00 - House Party, 6/1
1.30 - Sainglend, 9/2
2.05 - Jawhary, 13/8
2.35 - Shabal Hom, 5/6

Cheltenham...
2.10 - The New One, 11/10
2.45 - Go All The Way, 2/1
3.20 - So Fine, 11/1
3.55 - Sea Of Thunder, 6/4
4.30 - Court Minstrel, 11/2
5.05 - Wide Receiver, 10/1
5.40 - Brick Red, 8/1

A few doubles and singles at Cheltenham as i can never hit a winner at Fakenham...!!!

Good luck to all who do play today...<cheers>

Clerk of the Course Chris Stickells has predicted tommorrow's going at Ascot to be "Foul to Nasty, Neck-Deep in places". Officially, though, it'll be described as Soft.

I've had a bet in both NoviceChases today, Carlito Brigante in the 2.45 and Sire Collonges in the 3.55, so that's them burdened with my cursed shekels.
