It would be a bit unfair for me to call this a tip, so information received is probably more accurate.
My friend is in a couple of racing syndicates that own a few beasties. In all honesty, a couple of them with one trainer would struggle to outrun the Swedish Chef’s French cousin or the man from the Glue Factory. Their trainer reckons he has got them lenient handicap marks going forward – trouble is they have not been going forward very quickly to date! He had another one that never saw a racecourse at all and has been sent for retraining.
In the first at Newbury, however, the most promising of his two year olds is due to debut. The horse was originally entered for Royal Ascot but she never came to hand quickly enough to race in the spring and like a few yards in Lambourn this one was under a cloud during the summer. The yard think very highly of this filly. They got Oisin Murphy to come and ride her work. He was impressed enough that he told them to call him when she was ready to race. He would have had to ride the Balding entry had it not been withdrawn but now he is free to get on Orithia (16/1 on Oddschecker at time of writing). Word of warning – they do not want the ground to go soft. Too much rain and she will be taken out.
Problem with these juvenile maiden races – half the trainers will have told their owners that they fancy their chances first time out.
