exactly RV, for another example what about the festival 2 years ago when McCoy won on Witchita Lineman no chance he would have got that horse up if these rules were in place then. i really think we will see the full force of these rules come into place when the NH season properaly kicks in, some horses need cracks to get them going and keep them going over 3m+. ridiculous rules that clearly havent been thought through.
RV yeah you're right - I backed Sir Des Champs and I'd given up at the top of the hill. I remember we were all on fugees sayling what an amazing ride, how the hell did he get that home. Emmet Mullins was after him from before the 2nd last alright and again all the way up the hill but he kept finding and finding. I doubt he would have got that run out of him without the whip.
What we all thinking about Zaynar tomorrow then I am hoping the fences bring him back to form, he obviously has the ability having won his first 5 for Hendo. Sending him to Kelso ruined him losing at 1/14 when someone had a brown envelope job on him .
I agree RV - think the fences will liven him up and Nick Williams deserves a bit of luck with him. Hope he can put in a nice clean round and win as he likes
got to remember that Zaynar is only 6, plenty of time left with him. Hopefully he takes to fences but he's alway struck me as an awkward horse for all that ability he has. for me its a Watching brief only tomorrow in his race.
Wasn't that the race sponsored by Victor Chandler - you know - the bookie who also coincidentally owned the bloomin' horse
Chippy HE he is awkward alright in one race he was off the bridle after like 2 hurdles Toubab also makes his fencing debut in the same race, Nicholls has always liked him but says he is very ground dependant in his stable tour
Chippy yeah the Victor Chandler Morebattle Hurdle - not one of Henderson's finest moments, trucking the horse all the way up to Kelso and the ground was only declared raceable the morning of the meeting. Not sure it's just coincidence that the horse has done nowt since. RV yeah, Toubab was much better with cut in the ground over hurdles, should make up into a lovely chaser though. Surprised he is running tomorrow tbh.
Incidentally, am i right in thinking that Mr Henderson doesn't have a great record when it comes to sending hurdlers over fences?
Decided to do a lucky 15 as well as main bet on that'll do, so hoping: cullahill (5.05) western approach (4.30) priors gold (5.40) can follow up
good old beuna vista running at cheltenham, a horse i know i should back at the festival, a horse i always say i will back at the festival but ultimately a horse i never back at the festival and end up in a right strop when he wins.
Zaynar is a woof woof, I hope he has a good career over fences but I still fear him not putting it all in. He was in the Karabak race when both were beaten by S Conti at Ascot, both wanted to finish behind horses. Talented but hasn't been genuine in all his efforts.
Thanks Heis, I'll have some on this very dull Friday afternoon where I can't pick a horse to stay on his feet at Cheltenham
