Lope Y Fernandez is the one for money in the race and could be seen as the first string based on jockey bookings. It is very tight between Aidan's leading lights here though. I felt Armory's 3rd place in the Lagardere behind Victor Ludorum was just about the best piece of form in terms of relevance to today with the run coming at a Mile. Several of today's field are unproven at the trip and are stepping up two furlongs in come cases. Armory also has the magic Galileo seed in his pedigree.

In the opener I had £2 on Admiral Nelson at 9/1. Ballydoyle have had several variations of the famous seaman and this one is a son of Kingman who cost £440,000 and I could not back his stablemate Merchant's Quay at evens. Admiral Nelson will probably be better for the race today and for a 6th furlong in time but I would rather a tiny interest than wade in short on an unknown quantity.

That was all you could ask for from Admiral Nelson on debut. He was a bit slowly away but was soon travelling well in behind runners. 2F out I was confident that he was going best and he claimed the favourite in the closing stages quite readily. The bookies couldn't give him away this morning but at 5/1 he was a fair bit shorter than the 9/1 available earlier.
 
Trainers should be paying me to mention that they are out of form. I drew attention to Joseph O'Brien being out of sorts yesterday and he went within a nose of winning with one. Today he saddled Galileo Gold to a narrow victory and brought to an end a run of 0/30 this past fortnight. Well done those who kept the faith and believed in the "As soon as you mention they are out of form, bang goes a winner" theory. It is a mysterious phenomenon even Sherlock Holmes cannot explain.
 
Aidan O'Brien has said that Admiral Nelson could go for the Coventry Stakes, depending how he comes out of today's race. He elaborated that the horse would not do any work from now until then because of the shortish gap between the races. The trainer also stated that he was happy with Merchant's Quay, who was runner up and favourite today. That colt was also said to be a possible Ascot runner but added that they may not all get in at the Royal Meeting.

I took 8/1 for Admiral Nelson in the Coventry based on him looking as good as anything seen so far this season and also considering that Jim Bolger's Poetic Flare is the same price for the race. Lipizzaner let down Poetic Flare's form the other day and I liked the way Admiral Nelson won today. He can hopefully sit and pounce late over the extra furlong of the Coventry. He's paid for the bet today anyway.

hi fellas! curragh,2 000 guineas,6 40:

hard to put a finger on quite a few of these formwise,because they ve met each other already a few times last season,with varying results.but to me,SISKIN looks a big champion,who,with normal progression,should get even better this season.

Evening all,

Can't pick me own nose at the moment so my pick in the 2000 Guineas is FREE SOLO ew at 16/1. Both trainer and jockey have had a good week and and least he's gone over this distance.

I thought he was very unlucky personally by the time he got out Keane had switched to the outside with full momentum. Two good horses but if they rematch I would take Vatican City again. Ballydoyle ****ed up with tactics there
 
I would say it would have been very close without the trouble. I would take VC in a rematch for the value and be reasonable confident.
