A very interesting renewal of the Hyde Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham today with Mullins and Elliott both sending runners over to tackle some very promising British novices. At the early prices I like the Nicholls horse Hermes Allen at “Burlington Bertie”.

The jolly aside, Ashington looks the ew value to me. I love a conditional to open the meeting..

This new clerk of the course at Cheltenham is a clown. They’ll probably be riding on gd/fm by tomorrow.

Lady Wormsley in the finalé at Newcastle (17:35), a Class-5 Nursery over 7f.
Bet365 go 16/1, but 10/1 is a more realistic early best price.

Smart novice <ok>
Just looked up his PTP form and noticed he was beaten 19l by a horse called Johnnywho who led all the way over 3 miles and won "easily". That was Johnnywho's only run, and I can't find out much about him, other than his pedigree which looks very interesting. He has no entries but if he does come out at some stage it will be interesting to see how he has progressed. Hopefully his career has not been cut short

I am not 100% certain, but I think he's still shacked up at Ellemarie Holden's yard and owned by the Mother. JP McManus often tries to poach anything above average from there so watch this space.

You have to be a bit wary of Point Form. The other week I tipped Anyharminasking at Ascot - he had besten Constitution Hill in a point and won 2 novice hurdles with ridiculous ease. Finished 6th.

Edit: I should add, there are mitigating circumstances for Anyharminasking - he is trained by Jonjo O'Neil <doh>
