Gasly had one good race last season, everyone raved and then missed that he was mediocre for the rest. Max might be a knob, but he's also very fast racing driver.
Kvyat and Albon racing for the seat atm.

I have not Mentioned the thug .

Must admit can't really remember much about Gasly , how sweet if Kvyat came back and wiped the floor with Max .

Think Albon will get the nod though .

from a strategic point of view Kvyat makes more sense, as when he crashes he takes out whole teams, if he could just get close to the mercs......

Any news of action against Ricciardo for the final lap incident with Norris? To my mind he rejoined the track unsafely, and cost Norris several positions.

Seems to me at first you are correct , but I think Ricciardo gives him the place back , but Norris goes wide himself , so all equal ?

desperately dull.

then f1 chooses to show le.clerc being nowhere near bottas and we miss the last lap Norris heartbreak.

thanks for that.

procession race as predicted.

vettel was closing a tiny tiny bit on max unitl pit stops. he then was nowhere... so that was desperately dull race. i saw a bit of drs which is like pushing baby chicks into a pond.

2 x 5 sec penalties for Ricciardo.
Drops him to 11th.

So close racing is not allowed either when drivers are diving all over the place.

2 penalties is harsh as it takes him out of the points and gives it to Gasly who really did not deserve anything.

At least he was trying to race.

That is harsh but the overtake on Kimi was completely off track. Riccy has a habit of going off track on straights to try and get past. He hit a drain on the start a few races ago putting him out. OK so Paul Ricard is a bit weird as so much is tarmac but the while line does need respecting a bit otherwise corners will be completely missed.
The Norris pass where he went off track should have been fine as he just out braked himself and didn't really gain much as Norris went off anyway.

Overall maybe on a bad day a 5 sec penalty for Kimmi overtake but I don't really think he deserved a penalty. Maybe a couple of penalty points on licence for overtaking off track.

10 seconds feels harsh because it puts him back behind Gasly, but you can't argue with either penalty by the letter of the law. The pass on Kimi was off track and it was Ricciardo's coming back on track that pushed Norris wide and cost him three positions.

Ultimately maybe the point to take from this is not to race on carpark circuits.

btw.... how can a driver be penalised for taking the proscribed route to render track via "penalty" zone.

ridiculous
It's two conflicting regulations. "Must rejoin the track in the prescribed fashion" (done, no penalty), "gaining an advantage by leaving the track" (he gained two places, therefore a penalty).
