    just to drag this back to the OPs question for a minute,

    yes, the press should be free to report on whatever they like,HOWEVER, they must be 100% certain of their facts before going to print, and i personally feel they should gain these facts in a law abiding way.

    "with Freedom comes responsability"

    seems reasonable enough to me.
