Here are a few players (depending on being offered new contracts or not) which can be picked up for free this summer: Shaun Maloney Kim Bo-Kyung Pierre Webo Darren Bent Hugo Rodallega James Wilson Djibril Cisse Nicky Maynard Craig Mackail-Smith David McGoldrick Luciano Becchio Alex Pearce Jem Karacan Brad Jones Thomas Sorensen Gerhard Tremmel Chris Herd Damien Delaney Brede Hangeland Antolin Alcaraz Paul Konchesky Richard Dunne Clint Hill Andy Wilkinson Wes Brown Guy Demel Chris Baird Gareth McAuley Dean Marney Ross Wallace Ryan Taylor Joey Barton Karl Henry Wilson Palacios Youssouf Mulumbu Shola Ameobi Jerome Thomas Owen Garvan Scott Sinclair Sammy Ameobi Jon Walters Peter Odemwingie Carlton Cole Bobby Zamora ------------------------- Marney, Delaney and Walters - anyone? Some good options in there, so it's not all doom and gloom if we end up losing quite a few players - there are good options out there that can replace others at no cost. I think it also shows that to replace Quinn, we'd need to spend money. There is only Jem Karacan on that list that does anything like a similar job to Quinny and Karacan will probably go to a Premier League side.
A few of those names have agreed new deals already. Delaney and Walters being 2 of them. Many are finished and not what we want. nor would they improve us. Next..........
Thing is - even if they're on frees, we've got to make some players WANT to come to Hull and play for City. A lot of Championship teams will improve this summer and are on the up, plus signing Clint Hill or Wes Brown will get us bloody nowhere. Mackail - Smith, Becchio and McGoldrick... now that would be a good Championship attack! Plus, Karacan is an outstanding player - but will probably stay with Reading.
We desperately need a "captain" in midfield. Someone to shout and organise and give them a kick up the backside. If Dawson stays, and I sincerely hope he does, him and another leader in front of him in midfield could be the makings of a good spine. We need a new keeper too, could we tempt the Southend goalkeeper, he certainly seems to be one for the future.
That is a cracking shout - if anyone didn't see the League 2 final, the bloke is a giant (and a complete nutter).
Aye and only 21 (i think) He has confidence in abundance.. he was a world apart from wycombes keeper who looked like a nervous school boy He would be a great signing, very young for a keeper, many believe he will end up in the top flight
Darren Bent wouldn't be the worst signing in the world on a free. Scored plenty at Derby, just depends on the wages he'd want.
The very same, I'd be surprised if they didn't offer him a new deal, he looks alright. Be interesting to see how we use the loan market next season, must be a few good Man U youngsters we can have; Andreas Pereira, Saidy Janko, Angelo Henriquez (20 goals in 25 for Dinamo Zagreb last season, not bad), Jesse Lingard....
He came on as a sub on Sunday. Interesting to see Jon Walters on that list, would be nice to see him at the KC again
