Hi all, it's been a little quiet for Frankel but here area couple nice looking ones. Despite being slowly away she recorded a time of 55.84 which would have won the last 8/10 Prix de l’Abbaye, hope she does not get over hyped like Quadrilateral last year.
Thought I’d do a Tattersalls Book 1 round up for the Frankel offspring: 32 catalogued 4 withdrawn 9 vendor buy back/reserve not achieved 19 sold Top price: 2,000,000 for filly out of Fleche d’Or (making her a half sister to Golden Horn) to Godolphin Top price colt: 1,100,000 for colt out of Attraction (making him a full brother to Elarqaam) to Godolphin. Interesting to note that Juddmonte made 2 rare purchases of Frankel colts - one out of Blue Waltz (a winning half sister to G3 winner Fantasia and a grand daughter of Cheveley Park winner Blue Duster) for 450,000 and the second a private purchase for the colt out of Marlinka (making him a half brother to Marsha) who was initially led out “not sold” at 1,000,000 but later purchased in a private deal for 850,000.
One positive of Covid is that all the sales companies have been forced to put up videos of each of the lots, so the general public can get a good look at what is on offer. Book 2 kicks off tomorrow with 3 Frankel’s catalogued: Lot 838 colt out of G3 winner Hargeisa Lot 954 filly out of Love is Blindness (unraced half sister to G1 winner Reliable Man) Lot 1026 filly out of G3 placed Mur Hiba You can view their pedigree pages and videos by clicking on their lot numbers here: https://www.tattersalls.com/sales/october-yearling-sale-book-2/4DCGI/Sale/OC2 20/Main
JUYUSH could only finish 5th yesterday. Several runners today, with two chances at some more black type!
The Book 2 yearlings on offer yesterday went as follows: Lot 838 withdrawn Lot 954 460,000 to De Burgh Equine/Glenhill Farm - second highest price of the sale so far Lot 1026 52,000 to M Sutcliffe
Bit late today, but here are today’s runners and riders. I’ve included the two runners in the Caulfield Cup tomorrow morning.
4th for Mehdaayih and 5th for Veracious, creditable efforts but I was hoping for better! Hoping Zagato might do the job on debut.
Zagato incredibly unlucky. Badly hampered at the start and raced well detached from the rest of the field for much of the race. Came like an absolute train to finish 5th. Definitely one to watch.
ELIZABETH WAY runs in the G1 E P Taylor Stakes at Woodbine tonight. She was sold by Godolphin in Nov 2019 for €58,000, still a maiden after 5 starts, but has since been a revelation winning the G3 Very One Stakes at Gulfstream Park and the G2 Nassau Stakes at Woodbine as well as placing in two other Stakes races.
