RUBILINDA finished 6th in the G1 Matriarch Stakes. She was too wide around the tight turns and to be honest probably found the trip on the short side.
See the Queen's Frankel 2yo colt for next year has been named as Invictus Spirit (out of Daring Aim).
Quote below from an article in today's TDN about Galileo and his sons. For context, the article states that Teofilo and New Approach are currently the two best sons of Galileo at stud by number of black-type winners in the Northern Hemisphere. Teofilo has 60 and New Approach 28, Frankel has 21 and in fourth place is Rip Van Winkle with 13. The sensational Frankel (GB) is hot on the heels of New Approach's tally of 28 black-type winners and is odds-on to become number two by this measure quite soon. With his oldest only three, Frankel's strike rate is among the best ever, with 15.6% of his runners becoming black-type winners. More impressive is his ratio of group winners, which stands at 12.5%. After two years with runners, no stallion--not even his illustrious sire or grandsire--can match this fabulous strike rate. What's more, the average Timeform rating of his best 10 horses (119) is higher than any second-season sire for the past 20 years. So, Frankel looks like the stallion to set the standard for other sons of Galileo and indeed stallions in general to follow.
A few entries: Today AMBROSIA in a Maiden at Newcastle Tuesday SUN MAIDEN in a Novice at Wolverhampton (2 year old) - half-sister to Midday Wednesday AT YOUR SERVICE in a Handicap at Dundalk
Not very impressive but came through horses and did it OK. 2 secs slower than the race before and slower than the 2yo nursery earlier
The sole Frankel on offer at the December Foal Sale will go though the ring in the next hour or two (944 is currently in the ring). Lot 1022 is a colt out of G2 winner Contredanse, who also placed 4th in the G1 EP Taylor Stakes. Catalogue page here - http://www.tattersalls.com/cat/december/foals/2017/1022.pdf
Missed some jumps entries! SOLO SAXOPHONE has been entered in Juvenile Hurdles at Fakenham on Monday and at Market Rasen on Thursday.
Interesting - 5 runs in Ireland on mainly heavy going for Dermot Weld, including 2nd to Jer's Girl over 12 furlongs (albeit beaten 5.5 lengths). Now with Dan Skelton. Could this be Frankel's first NH runner?
He will be. Gordon Elliott has the ex-Niarchos owned COMMENTARIOLUS who was entered a few weeks ago in Ireland but not declared. He’s in the listings of possible Triumph Hurdle Entries. Interestingly SOLO SAXOPHONE is still an entire according to his RP profile.
Then hopefully we will see him in his entirety next week should liven up a dull December afternoon I hope you are well and of course hubby and the 2 little ones
We’re battling on thanks, it’s not easy with 2 small people and hubby away 5 days a week, but little by little it gets easier as the weeks go by. I’m back at work part time in January, though I’m doing 1 day a week in the run up to Christmas. Planning to pop up and see Frankel next week, which is always a tonic for the soul!
It does get slowly easier as the kids get older. Great that you are going back to work in January, that will be really nice for you. Amazing you still find time to post on here so thank you so much for that Say hi to Frankel for me
