Needed a day away after Saturday! Belated results: Hurricane Lane - unplaced (7th) Soul Sister - unplaced (12th) Theoryofeverything - 3rd Chaldean - unseated rider Cracksking - non runner Fernao - 3rd Won Love - unplaced (5th) Moving Colours - 1st Roch - unplaced (9th)
On reflection after Chaldean’s race, I’d take the positive that he knew his job and ran well loose. He was starting to pull himself up and when the winner came to him he fought back (and tried to take a chunk out of him if my eyes did not deceive me!) Hurricane Lane looks to be out of love with the game now and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him retired now. A spot at a NH stud is probable, with Overbury Stud a likely candidate given they have stood Darley’s G1 winning stayers previously in Kayf Tara and most recently Jack Hobbs.
Hopefully a better day to be had on Friday, with ARREST (G1 placed at 2 in France) entered for the Classic Trial and the return of ADAYAR in the Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown.
What a cracking race. This could provide some useful input to this year's Arc. I am also very excited to see Francesco Clemente back on the track at last. He was my dark horse for last year's Arc, back in June, and on the short list for this year's. Can't wait to see how he runs. This is a major step up in class for him. Didn't run as a 2yo, made his winning debut in April last year in a Class 3 maiden over 1m, then stepped up to 10f, winning a Class 4 Novice. Only race since was a C&D win in a good time winning by 9l. A very exciting lightly raced 4yo. Not run on soft before so that will also be interesting
