Read yesterday that Sir Les is trying to persuade Gerry Francis to return in a coaching role. I believe he is or was Tony Pulis's defensive coach so he'd be just the job in that role with us...

Can we get bowles back so he can teach the kids how to fritter away their wages
How many Popular old timers are going to come back on the payrole
Maybe we can dig up a few of the dead ones

What's el tel doing these days

The difference is he was coaching one of the meanest defences at the top level with Stoke and followed Pulis after that, a lot of that success is down to him. The fact he's a Rangers legend is a bonus...

He followed Pulis to West Bromwich in January. Sky wrote he had worked mainly as a defensive coach at Stoke and Palace. Except for that at 63 he's getting on a bit, he sounds just what we need.

It's not as if he'd be dragged out of retirement, always in work in the Prem from the look of it.

Ready made caretaker manager if things go tits up too........

Gerry Francis, a real QPR legend, no ifs, no buts a true Rangers legend the only thing more legendary I can think of is his barnet - legendary mullet.
Oh and he's a legend!

Don't want him. Been there done that. His 2nd stint with us was a disaster. He's too old anyway.

How many more backward steps do we want to take?

He's not coming back as manager Swords, for me the more real QPR people at the club the better.
We may even get real sausages in the catering, eh nines!

Legend definitely. And before he got that back injury he was probably the best attacking central midfield player in the Country, England's captain and key player. He seemed to have everything including a great eye for where and how the opposition's defence could be unlocked. Maybe what gave him the vision to lock up as a coach.

Very true; in fact Gerry's back injury was what stuffed Don Revie. If rangers struggled without him then England were left truly high and dry. Revie had built the team around him ( note that Gillard.Clement, Thomas and Bowles were in the team as well - yes 5 x rangers players in the England team!

Apparently Gerry sorts out the back four at teams he goes to. I would like to think that CR could do this himself what with all his coaching badges.

I suspect that we may get more out of Gerry than we did out of Hoddle......

The common denominator is that wherever he has worked he has tightened up the defense and made the sides hard to beat.......build from the back.

Spot on! We could definitely do with a strengthened defence to stop leaking easy goals, maybe turn Caulker & Ned into an enviable centre back pairing.

Well there wasn't a lot to show anyone had sorted our back 4 last season.
