Agreed. His main strength (& this is according to my Southend season-ticket holding mate) is his ability to get forward and get great crosses into the box. Something which he did just did not do on a frequent enough basis last season. Playing centre back would mean this would be lost from his game, however, can you lose something thats not really there anyway? IMO, he is an appalling defender anyway.
Solly for me every time, he is far more composed on the ball than Francis, he reads the game far better and is not caught out with the ball played inside him. Yes, he does lack hight but has a great jump to make up for it.
Solly looks like a child playing with the adults Think some of us like him that little bit extra as he came through the ranks
To coin a phrase from our much missed A2C Francis was a target for the boo boys from day 1 which didnt help. Guily of some poor errors though our best attacking option much of the time, crosses excellent and any good work he did totaly unappreciated whilst any mistakes jumped on. I dont think Francis is the greatest ever but no way as bad as painted. Solly being home grown definately has a place in my heart and has never let us down sooo heart ruling head i`d say solly...but only just if its Francis I havent got a problem to be honest its centre backs where we are weaker.
I would like to see another right back come in a first choice and use Solly as back up. I'm still unsure about Francis.....he gives the ball away too often.....that's just my opinion.
I think Francis will fit in better but i'd still prefer to see a new right back preferably Richardson Richardson Francis Solly Jenkinson
I think that Francis went into a siege mentality last season; him and McCormack knew the fans weren't behind them and were just playing scared of making a mistake. From Twitter Francis seems a good mate of Jacko so can't help feeling that during training he looks a very good player. There was a home game at the end of last season when Francis was almost unplayable as an attacking RB for the first 25 minutes then made a silly mistake which almost cost us a goal (was it Colchester?) after that he was pants!! A daft ball from defence let their big lad up front run through unchallenged and that was it from Francis for the rest of the game If he could get his confidence up and not worry all the time about the fans reaction to him I think he COULD?? make a good RB and would be first choice. That's my view anyway. Franco - if you grow (or acquire) a second dick I will ask for you to be banned!
... With two boys under three and a job where i work 24/7 shifts, i don't get to use the one I've got as much as I'd like mate... .
Like it DVDDD...Today is the 45th birthday of the other Mike Tyson a day of joy celebration and watching of Tyson fights on DVD...i`m sure he reads N606 so from all of us on the charlton forum....happy birthday Mike Tyson
Tyson imo was never the greatest boxer in terms of skills, but there's never been another boxer who's struck fear into the hearts of his opponents quite like he did in his prime. His trademark jog/bounce on his way to the ring, whilst wearing black from head to toe including black hood... With the camera cutting between his entry and the poor opponent awaiting him in the ring, with a look on his face of 'oh f**k, whatever I'm getting paid for this it aint enough'. In his prime he was without any shadow of a doubt 'the baddest man on the planet'... who Imo had he been just a quarter Interested would've absolutely wiped the floor with Lenox Lewis...
Franco, couldn't agree more. People band the word hard around, but was hard, fast and very very nasty! How hard do you have to be to get your face tattooed?
