Morning gents.

According to the press, we've activated Fraizer Campbell's release clause of £800 and he's set for contract talks with us tomorrow.

So, a few questions...

1) Would you be sad to see him go?
2) Does he deserve another shot of the Premier League?
3) Is it a fair price?
4) What were his performances like (only scored 6 goals, wondering if he contributed much else)?

A few on here really like him. I'm not one of them, so for my take on him;

He gives 110% and is quite physical
He has a couple of good days a season and scores a few goals.

His first touch is barely L1 standard, he plays with his head down and will miss more chances than he'll score. He does not have any ability to link play as a forward and will continually break down your attacks with his piss poor touch and complete lack of vision. He possesses very few of skills required in the PL other than pace and strength.

If you depend on him for the goals to stay up you'll suffer the same fate as us. If he's an option off the bench with a much better first choice striker he'll be well worth the measly £800k fee. He is ok in a wide role, where his work rate and pace make up for his other shortcomings.

He always gave 100%, good luck to him and you, but as you may have guessed I'm happy we're starting the season with different options up front <ok>
 
Great Championship player. Not great in the PL.

However, you can expect 100% work rate game in, game out with 1 or 2 goals. If every player worked as hard as Fraz competition would be stiff.

I think we will miss him here in our league this season if he were to leave.
 
he is at the moment a player who is too good for the championship but not good enough for the premiership. now that we've got le fondre who is a better player, i'm not too concerned that he's going, he was always going to leave at some point. i'd prefer to keep him, but its £800k back in the kitty and big wages off the books.

he didn't have many chances so he was on a hiding to nothing last season for us, so its not as if he's a poor player by any means, but he did miss chances that a better player would have scored. he was a 100% er for us when he was here so on that basis i wish him success if he does go to leicester.

Good player but there must be a mistake with £800 release clause surely..??

For anything less than £3 million you have got yourselves an absolute bargain. In a team that attacks and wants to win games he will score goals. We created very few chances for him and he had to survive on scraps for most of last year, but worked his socks off for the cause. To let him go for £800,000 is a joke - yet another thing we have to thank the great (and scrupulously honest, allegedly) Malky Mackay and his sidekick Ian Moody for!!! Absolutely farcical.
1. I'll be sad to see him go.
2. Yes he deserves another shot at the Premier League - a shame he won't stay with us to do it.
3. No, it's not a fair price!!! It's daylight robbery.
4. He contributes a lot more than goals, but if you play him for thirty games in a side that goes towards the opposition goalposts more than we did last year he will score a lot more than 6 goals. I felt sorry for the bloke at times.

1 - Yes but id rather him go than Marshall or Mutch plus weve enough strikers so I wont lose sleep over his departure.
2 - Hes a top end Championship player , lower level PL player so i dont know about this.
3 - £800k is a joke. £3m and id say weve got a good price.
4 - Hes quick and works very hard. Finishing average but touch lets him down (L1 level is a bit harsh though)
 
I don't think we will miss him too much.

I'm more interested in how we agreed to a contract with such a low release clause in it. Is it another example of Malky's transfer dealings or was it agreed by someone else? Very strange.
 
Stupid amount to put in as a release clause. Even at 2M I would have said it was a reasonable price.

With Campbell's pace and with your lot saying he is a great work rate I think for 800K he will be a very good option for us to bring off the bench. We have Jamie Vardy is very similar by the sounds of things

And how can you judge Vardy bearing you have seen very little of him? If your basing your opinion on the season before last then Vardy looked like the conference player we signed. If someone you was at our matches last season then you must be blind as he was one of the main reason we got promoted. Absolutely superb from the start to the finish. He scored 16 goals, won nearly 10 penalties and caused havoc for the opposition

If I had the choice over Campbell or Vardy I would stick with Vardy as I'm sure 99% of the Leicester fans would
 
So why do you think you want Campbell, the only thing i can see him going to you for is to play 1st team PL football, if Pearson sees him as a back up or bench warmer then i think Campbell will stay with us, at the end of the day we are similar sized clubs and i wouldnt think you are offering him more on the wage front. Plus if you think your championship side will cut it in the PL your in for a shock. Your additions to have any chance of survival will have to be quality. The one thing you have going for you for next year is, QPR, Burnley and Villa, if you can stay above those 3 you will survive.
 
I'd take Vardy over Campbell just based on those stats!!

Of the 3 you mention Ronny Burnley have Ings and QPR have Harry. What ever you think about him as a manager he knows how to build a squad in the PL. A London based club will mean he can attract players added to his reputation. With Fernandes chucking the cash at it I'll be very surprised if they don't stay up. Villa are a couple of bad decisions away from struggling and Hull will be down and around the lower end.

Leicester absolutely demolished the championship (which is no mean feat), a few decent additions and they'll have a great chance but like most bottom half sides it's unlikely they'll be much more than 6 points from the drop. It's a fine line.

As far as the Prem next season is concerned, you can perm any 3 from about dozen to suffer the drop. From what we saw of the eventual survivors last season, West Brom and Hull must be candidates. Of the ones coming up, maybe Burnley look vulnerable at the moment.
 
He had a horrendous 2nd half of the season. Didn't help that he was played on the wing and missed the few chances he got (I think he scored only 1 league goal post January) but all he did was run around. His best moment was a clinical finish versus Man U but he just did not get enough balls like that and when he did he messed up.

He has poor ball control, poor vision and is a 2nd rate finisher.

Thankful for his contribution in the promotion season and the Man City game but City will have better strikers on the pitch next season.
