Must have been the drink , I won’t take any notice of him again without checking for myself or quoting him !Eintracht Frankfurt had 48,800

I think SD has had a lot of unfair criticism. He clearly underestimated the situation he was buying into but that is not a crime. He has risked £10m of his own cash on the club, might well have lost a good chunk of that but the criticism seems to be that he doesn’t have a spare £50m to burn. Well who does? It's easy to get dragged down by the pro-miserati on RTG jumping on any perceived negative like a dog at broth.
It's probably best to see all the 'statements' from Donald as public negotiating and advertising.
Of course various entities 'enquire about the club' but that's a long way from what FPP have done.
It's all very well saying gates are irrelevant but we have top ten fan base and current gates that some PL clubs envy.
We'll be bought because we're a club with real potential ...
... we've heard that all before but it doesn't make it any less true.
Financial equivalent of smoke and mirrors. The confusion is caused by everyone trying to label every bit of money as this or that. The key point is that there is a difference between SAFC and the company that owns SAFC. SAFC loaned Madrox £25m which they used to pay Short. There is nothing odd about this - Short knew that money was coming in. He could have waited until it arrived, used it to pay off the club debt to himself and then sold the club after. Instead he sold it beforehand but the valuation obviously reflected the fact that SAFC was abo to be given £25m in parachute payments. It is another red herring really.
If I had a dormant company that did absolutely nothing but owned a lottery ticket that had just won £1m, I could wait until the company got paid that cash, distribute it to myself as a dividend and then I am left with a company worth nothing. Or I could sell it the day before it gets the payment to someone else for £1m.
The point is that the £1m has got nothing to do with the value of the company really. It’s just a £1m of cash that is worth £1m. Do you want to buy the company with the £1m of cash or not? The difference in price is £1m.
What matters from a SAFC perspective is that that money is not ‘gone’, it is less back to the club by Madrox. So if Madrox are going to pay it back, the value of the club will include that £25m. If Madrox are not going to pay it back, then the value of the club won’t include the £25m.
But there is zero practical difference between someone buying SAFC from Madrox for £35m witb Madrox paying back the loan to SAFC and someone buying SAFC for £10m, Madrox defaulting on the loan and the new owner putting in £25m of fresh equity into SAFC. In both cases, the new owner has spent £35m, SAFC has its £25m of cash back and Madrox have been given £10m.
That’s not really what I meant. It was Ellis who wanted the parachute payments. All SD did was agree to hand it over when it arrived. It’s not really anything to do with him. If Ellis had sold the club a few months later, no one would even be talking about it.Financial equivalent of smoke and mirrors.
The club was taken over on the never never.
The never never wants its money back
Donald wants a pay day and doesnt care who pays the never never

He has made a few silly comments but much of what he has said hasn’t actually been wrong - it has just been misinterpreted. My sense is that he means well, he just doesn’t have the funds to do what is actually needed. He should have done more DD and offered Ellis something more like £30m. Then he would have not gotten into such a hole.
Haway man, people on here are adults, not children.
we’re all entitled to our opinions m8, that’s what a discussion board is all about, but I disagree, I think his ineptitude was and is driven by greed, he saw an opportunity and thought he’d take Ellis for a few quid, unfortunately he completely underestimated what was needed to run a massive club like ours. No one put a gun to his head to take us over, and the least we deserve is to be run properly, he's running it like a non league club. He needs to go and go quickly, and not let the door smack his arse on the way out.I think SD has had a lot of unfair criticism. Actually, I think he was hood-winked by Methven. That was how the deal got down, through contact between him and Ellis. I think SD got bounced into it because there was a tight deadline. Remember than SD and JS put actual money in. CM did not. Then as soon as it looked like Madrox was worthless, he was gone.we’re all entitled to our opinions m8, that’s what a discussion board is all about, but I disagree, I think his ineptitude was and is driven by greed, he saw an opportunity and thought he’d take Ellis for a few quid, unfortunately he completely underestimated what was needed to run a massive club like ours. I know mate, that comment was aimed at Bri for believing anyone 'panders to me' on here.
I try to post in an optimistic and entertaining way so people 'like' my posts ...
... it's not because they slavishly follow me like I'm Sun Myung Moon![]()
With your German crowds, they are always huge, but that’s due to the size of the cities, not always fanatism.
50k for Stuttgart in the second division looks impressive, but it’s a city of 700,000 people.
Jardine, as usual, spending his Sunday ignoring his children and obsessing about 'Reiver' ...
... and, as usual, posting nonsensical bollix that bears no relation to the truth.
"At least Reiver seems to have had the good grace to fall on his sword after his pitiful ITK nonsense regarding FPP."
Just to reiterate, FPP are still very much involved and currently the biggest investors in the club.
For all he keeps posting that he'd be delighted if it happened, he's one of a few who genuinely just seem to enjoy wallowing in misery. He'd be in his element if it fell through, and if they do take over I give it about 2 days before he starts "lowering expectations" and being pessimistic about what they can achieve. People like that baffle me, there's enough to be concerned and worried about in every day life, football is supposed to be an escape from that. Can't understand why anyone would keep watching and commenting on something which seemingly gives them so little enjoyment or cause for optimism

German fans also pay the equivalant of £10 per game as well..With your German crowds, they are always huge, but that’s due to the size of the cities, not always fanatism.

I'd agree with that tbh.
The mistake he's made is that he's used to giving rallying cries to his insurance staff who are dependant on him for wages and, therefore, slightly more 'gullible'.
We both know how much forensic scrutiny our own posts endure on a little chat forum ...
... hoping that contradictory comments will escape the attention of 30,000 people is a little naive tbh.
