As profound as it is, it does reflect the current job market.
Sounds pretty familiar, I finished uni this year and have only just started a job totally unrelated, every now and then you hear of storied of people waithing years for a 'graduate job'. My job is not great pay but not bad and mind numbingly boring but a job is a job at the end of the day.
Personally I have always found the idea of an apprenticeship quite alluring, although I couldn't make any recommendations.
