Shame no British drivers are in there. Interesting mix of drivers from various formula, ex-F1 (old), ex-F1 (recent), Indy, DTM etc. Not sure what the form guide would be though as no one really stands out as the star driver in terms of known talent, though picking out who will be at the back may be easier <cough> Quin Hua <cough>
My tip: watch out for Sebastien Bourdais. Feeling let down by F1, and deprived of an opportunity to blossom, he is well-motivated to prove himself beyond his considerable successes in the USA. Senna can be quick but I've always found him to be inconsistent and ragged. Young Tambay is a bit of an unknown for me, but all else being equal, his tender age must put him amongst the most likely to be around longest. Albers and Buemi should also be very competitive. Karthikeyan was out of his depth in F1, and I don't expect him to electrify this series either. On the other hand, Abt might turn a few heads…
Will be watching this. Don't want to miss the first ever season of what could be a >60 year league like F1 is.
It actually isn't at this moment in time, thank christ. Mine is focussed on a lot of theory and some experimental work atm, no MATLAB.
Bourdais has been back in Indy for 2 years and hasn't really shone since his return. Whilst Dragon may not be the best financed team I would have expected him to have been more consistently up the fron than he has been. I foresee a lot of crashes in these races, a lot of hot heads in the pack. I think Andretti will emulate his father's F1 stint in that respect!
Yes, ASC: I'm well aware of Bourdais' relative slump (as compared to past glories). It's just a hunch that he might do better with something new. I also agree with you about 'family Andretti'…
Some more drivers added to the list Ben Collins "the Stig" Jaime Alguersuari Alex Brundle Connor Daly Robert Doornbos Christian Klein Katherine Legge Nicolas Minassian
Ben Collins is a surprising inclusion, perhaps more media-driven than anything else? Will be interesting to see how he gets on.
Well, I don't think even the self-appointed authority of the Beeb has claim of copyright for a plain white colour scheme! Hehe… I must say, as this thing gathers momentum, I'm taking an ever keener interest. Let's hope it gets off to a flying start, eh?
There's no doubt some limitations as to what they (he) can get away with though, surely? Really good article from James Allen on F-E here. Interesting things to come out of it are that the costs to the teams are broadly the same as for GP2, that the Chief Executive is well behind the tweet based boost system, and that a UK TV deal will be announced within a fortnight. Also, they're going to run two trial race weekends in the summer at Donnington (July and August) to try and iron out any issues. What do you reckon the chances of those being open to punters are?
