Last corner only opened very slightly, previous DRS zone it opened fully. So Max probably lost a tenth or so maybe more.
Mercedes looked really good on the mediums today, so they might manage to make it a race tomorrow. Max was pretty epic today- credit where it’s due. The midfield is going to be super congested around this track- surely a safety car is a high possibility in this race.
Just watched some of W series and there were a couple of overtakes and they have identical cars. So we might have a few overtakes tomorrow, fingers crossed.
Catching up in F3 atm and it's not filling me with much hope so far. First DRS zone seems about as useful as boobs on a fish. Cover the inside on the run to turn 1 and the only hope is a run at the outside. So long as you're taking the high line cleanly in to 3, there seems no way a low line will come out ahead... Hope I'm wrong, but feels like all it's going to be is sketchy lunges.
A little bit more happening in to turn 1 in the second race, but get the feeling F1 could be a bit more spread out.
Me too, not a bad race, but I don;t think any of them have what it takes to get to F1 tbh, I think Powell is the better of the 4 good drivers, but Chadwick most likely to make it as she's the most photogenic.
Must admit that when W series started I was a bit concerned that it wasn't the right thing to do as everyone should get there on their own merit. Then I realised that to try and balance things out sometimes you have to force change by giving the minority a boost to help even things out long term. W series does seem to be opening doors to some of the drivers and gaining them some publicity as well as enabling them to show their skills. I think it will also encourage girls to start karting at an early age as they can see women racing cars and want to do the same. Long term I think W series is a great idea and hopefully over the long term will enable women to get into all levels of racing. It's great to see more sports having women's teams, it will be really great when mixed teams are allowed.
Ideally in 10-15 years W-Series won't need to exist. It's not like athletics, the physical difference between men and women for motor racing doesn't impede their ability to race each other. Ironically until recently it may have been an advantage with jockey sized racers keeping the weight and centre of mass low. All got minimum seat+driver weights now. We've just got to hope that the first female F1 driver is good, as they will be unfairly seen at the standard of female drivers for all that follow.
