3 tenths quicker than Grosjean who was on the primes. So unless Mclaren are running slightly more fuel, it's not encouraging. Interesting to read aswell that Webber thinks a pole for Red Bull is unlikely.
I reckon if the quali sessions start dry everyone will try and put in a fast lap straght away to avoid getting caught out by rain!
Even as a Seb fan I would admit Webber is quite strong around Monaco and only mistakes will separate them. Seb would have to nail it like he has never nailed it before on Monaco to get close to those Ferrari's, Lotus and McLaren look like a league in their own. Btw I reckon the reason why there are not many upgrades on this RB8 is that they will write this one off, you'll see. Be around Silverstone when a RB8/B rolls out with DDRS a McLaren exhaust and their infamous tunnel on the side finally working. Because lets be honest, Red Bull don't like to brag about their hands.
Hmm I don't trust Adrian Newey not to come up with a stroke of genius in the next 5 minutes. I don't trust Vettel to stay away from Pole until qually is over.
Well he might as well set a time if he gets into Q3 and then wring the **** out of it and damage the car if it has to come to it... No point saving tyres in Monaco so he might as well go for it!
Or set a banker before the supposed rain falls. I think he actually did have tyre issues in 2009 but then went forever in 2011 so who knows, despite the difficulty in overtaking I always love this race.
McLaren say Lotus team to beat: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/99816 So I guess both Lotus' out of Q3 like Jenson in Spain?
Well Seb was always an aggressive driver in his 07-10 period, burning up a set of Bridgestones within 9 laps in 2009 shows how different he is now. I'll be happy for Seb to get 5th or 6th on the grid but it will most likely be 8th or 9th depending on Webber and the Mercedes'. If Webber is sounding worried dont be suprised if one of them or maybe both of them are knocked out in Q2.
Seb unable to predict pace: http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-news/279030/vettel-unable-to-predict-true-pace/
Hah, he's not the only one. I've no idea what to expect. Maybe Ricciardo on the front row knowing this season.
Wonder what Hamilton sees that I cant? "The Lotus is massively quick," he said. "I'm not really quite sure what Red Bull is up to, but I have no doubts they'll be quick. The Ferrari is very quick. There are 3 things that possibly happend... 1:Lewis reckons RBR are just bullshitting the pace and their comments with regard to their speed and will go faster than expected. 2:RBR are in the ****! 3:Lewis has lost his marbles and is the reason why he is so happy all the time...
I really hope that wasnt a great lap from Jenson because 3 tenths quicker than the Lotus on a different tyre compound is a big worry. But rain for qualifying is an even bigger one as I can just see McLaren putting their driver/s in traffic at the worst possible or waiting too long to go out.
I wouldn't worry about the difference to Grosjean just yet, as always we don't know programmes and fuel loads, and I expect the McLaren to have a couple more tenths in Hamiltons hands anyway.
Speed trap Practice 2: Daniel Ricciardo 282.6 Vitaly Petrov 280.1 Lewis Hamilton 279.2 Jenson Button 279.1 Mark Webber 278.8 Paul di Resta 278.7 Nico Hulkenberg 278.5 Jean-Eric Vergne 278.3 Kimi Räikkönen 278.1 Heikki Kovalainen 278.1 Nico Rosberg 278.0 Romain Grosjean 277.9 Michael Schumacher 277.9 Kamui Kobayashi 277.4 Bruno Senna 277.4 Narain Karthikeyan 277.3 Pedro de la Rosa 277.2 Fernando Alonso 276.9 Timo Glock 276.6 Felipe Massa 276.4 Sergio Perez 276.3 Pastor Maldonado 276.2 Charles Pic 275.7 Sebastian Vettel 274.9 ??? Seb not pushing maybe? Both Webber and Seb posted slower top speeds in better weather as well which is slightly weird?
