    guys i think there are a number of examples of guys in sports that get infections in operations that are not picked up.

    we can only conclude gerrard either got an infection during his groin operation that was deep seated, there is evidence for that. whether the ankle infection is merely a secondary point that doctors are worried still about the original situation or not is only speculation.

    there is no-one that is talking which suggests its serious

    He's not forgotten, but whereas in the past the team was built around him we now have a team/squad that functions perfectly well without him. This is good for the club building for the future, because injuries apart, he's still not going to go on for ever.
    We have to create a dynasty like in the past- where we had smooth transitions between older players and new and/or younger ones filling their places.
    Of course, Stevie would improve any team, but as we learn to live without him then any contribution he can make will be a valuable bonus.
