Oh come on, he just signed a new deal weeks ago. I can't see Barca selling such a major talent. If they get Cesc he will likely get loaned out to another Spanish la liga team. Many would be interested. Comparing Jones to a world class young talent who plays for the best team in the world is a joke. Both parties want to stay at Barca but the best option may be a loan option.

Barca will not sell Thiago! He is very well thought of within the club and from what I've seen of him, it isn't hard to see why.
I was recently looking at who Malaga and PSG had signed (due to their huge wealth). There was one guy who has signed for Malaga who I feel has slipped through the net. Toulalon may very well be the very best defensive midfielder in the world right now. I've seen him a lot in the last 2 or 3 years and he has never failed to impress. Even for a dire France side in the WC last year, he played pretty well imo. Cracking player. Really could have boosted United imo.

No I don't think he is United standard to be honest. He is 27 and probably not much improvement to anybody in our midfield. The one I feel we may have missed out on is Santi Cazorla. Went to a lower side for a bit more money. He's a tricky little player who featured for Spain in the World Cup. Will be a top player.

He is a wide player isn't he? Not something that we are desperately in need for. Well primarily plays wide right or left and has he left Villareal? I thought he has been there for quite a few years.

EDIT- Just Wiki'd him, joined moneybags Malaga for around 21m Euros. Not exactly cheap but I know what you mean, he is very good on the ball but he isn't the type of midfielder that we need.

All I can say is watch Toulalon play and make your judgement based on that. He may not have a big name or be a marquee player but he would definitely improve our midfield and any in England. The guy is a class act.

    Totally agree.

He has always impressed when I've seen him play (although not a lot).

Just never impressed me. I think Fletcher is better and to be honest I wouldn't swap him for Carrick either. There is better out there for sure. I have always liked Lassana Diarra but he's too much of a nomad to be honest. Probably wouldn't settle. In my opinion we need a steely general to parole our midfield. In the mould of De Jong preferably.

It seems Inter have just confirmed they have received an offer for Sneijder but it didn't say who from. Got a feeling he will end up at Citeh.

Good player but his purchase would hamper the development of our young stars in the making and I would be very upset if that happened.

Toulalan is a very good, solid player, but I don't think he's the best defensive midfielder in the world right now, players like Schweinsteiger operate as defensive midfield playmakers these days and he is a class above the likes of Toulalan. In my opinion the 2 players that "slipped through the net" this year that were bargains at the price were Vidal who went to Juventus and Sahin who went to Real Madrid, both for around £9 million each. Vidal is a 24 year old defensive midfielder who does his job very well, a similar style to Toulalan but younger (and more effective in my opinion), Sahin is a more creative midfielder, and at only 22 he could turn out to be a real star.

Is Vidal the lad that was at Leverkusen? Never really saw much of him to be honest. Never heard him talked up either so didn't really know if he was decent or not. As for Sahin I don't really think he slipped through the net. Once Real Madrid come calling that's it I think. Not many players would choose United over them. That is unless you are Antonio Valencia.

Yeah Vidal was fron Leverkusen, a very solid player, Juventus have snapped him up and sent Melo out on loan. I didn't hear much talk of other teams even making an offer for Sahin so I guess we'll never know where he would of went, I suspect he would of still chosen Real though.

There were no other offers for Sahin cos Real triggered the release clause - higher offers would have had no impact at that point. As we're not Liverpool, desperately trying to get a player that has already agreed to go to another club, we weren't interested at that point ;)

I knew they triggered the release clause, but it was just a minimum fee release so other clubs could have put offers on the table, that was my point about never really knowing where he would of went but I still think he would of went to Real.
