There is not a single work of life where workers perform to their best without concise execution strategy against a vision from a leader/manager. It is fallacy to suggest that people, players especially, simply perform out of some innate pride and intelligence.
Same answer, bollocks. Once on the pitch and the ball is flying around you have to use your own judgement and vision. Both teams start off with "a plan" bur it's rare the opposition play to it.
I guess your suggestion is to go out and spend another £500m because the current players simply don’t have what it takes to perform when the rubber meets the road.
Two of the players I mentioned, Lindelof and Dalot, have been at the club a long time now and pre date Ten Hag, they've always been prone to lapses and I don't think any 'system' would prevent that. Dalot gets a pass as he's playing at left back while Shaw is out and works hard, but he's a poor defender. As is Lindeof, a system won't change that. The Mazaraoui in midfield was plain odd though, and only exposed Zirkzee as not being very good at leading the attack. He needs to get these players in their settled positions. To save his own skin if anything.
didn't watch the game but from your description the players had been instructed to play safe first and followed those orders . If that wasn't the case why didn't it change after a HT bollocking ?
Watching Real versus Barca… perfect example of how everything good and bad display by a team ends with the coach.
Hold on though, Real are managed by Ancelotti. Who we all surely want, right? Tell you what, I am adamant that what they should be doing is whispering in Carlo's ear on whether he fancies a crack at United next season. He must know that he's never far from the sack, they've done it before, and tonight is one of those games that makes the Real president pull the trigger. Fair play to Hansi Flick though. He's doing a fine job. And yet we are allegedly talking to the bloke he replaced, weird old world that is the football merry-go-round ffs! (it's actually Amorim we should be whispering to)
I was referring to Hansi Flick this season. Sure, they are only 11 games into the season, but it is clear that Barca now plays with a defined sense of purpose, style, and execution. Specifically, with the same set of players that were disjointed last season. That is a clear example where a manager can come in and make a massive difference. Suggesting that players are somehow the ones to blame when there is a clear and long trend of indiscipline and lack of foresight in play across the team demonstrates lack of leadership from the manager/coach. As for Real - Ancelotti has been there, done that. This may well be a transition season for Real as they try to accommodate way too many egos. But this also demonstrates that we can’t suggest their players are not good enough. They are all the epitome of what one might call world class. Yet lately, they’ve been disjointed because the manager hasn’t worked out how to make the team click with the new additions. It ends with the manager and ETH should fk off already!
I just don't what them to rush into sacking him because X,Y or Z is available. The men they actually want, like Ancelotti or Amorim, currently have jobs and are not readily available, we'd end up with the wrong person. Again. I suppose with Ruud being there, he could see the season out if they sack ten Hag soon, but the worry for me is he then gets it full time.
Go Carlo. Mbappe has completely fkd RM and Ancelotti was powerless to to say no, he's fkd their side in the exact same way as CR fkd Ole's plans.
Why are we afraid of Ruud getting the job on a permanent basis? We’ve completely ruled out the thought because it didn’t work out with Ole. Ruud actually has more experience than Ole at the same stage in their career. I’m not suggesting that Ruud should be given the job automatically, but if he shows signs of original ideas, why do we assume someone like Amorim would be any better?
Because when Ineos came in, he won't have been on their radar as a potential manager of ours. So, if he gets it, it would be in the back of a new manager bounce effect, just like Ole. Reactive, rather than planned. It is an inarguable fact that the recruitment of managers since Ferguson left has been a mish mash of unemployed big names and knee jerk interim caretaker ****e. Even ten Hag wasn't properly planned as they sacked Ole then went looking for his replacement. The Ineos bunch are supposed to be changing this approach. We don't know that Amorim would be better but take a look at his work at Sporting over the last four years and you'll see why he's a much sought after coach with the defined style of play that everyone insists we must have. Over four years. Ruud had one season at PSV, so doesn't have the same managerial experience we are surely looking for at this stage. Say he does come in and do well, they can't just hand him the job before the season ends, like happened with Ole.
Penalty or not, it makes no difference. Once again we squandered chance after chance in the first half, dominating the play. We have to develop some pattern of play that doesn't involve everything going through Garnacho, we have become predictable and teams are starting to overload his side of the pitch, and with no comparable, dynamic outlet on the right to speak of, we are being blunted - that and a combination of bad luck and poor finishing.
Feel a bit sorry for him today, we were genuinely robbed by VAR, to the point it felt deliberate. Michael Oliver would be lucky to get out of Old Trafford in one piece if he ever refs there. Dalot's miss was criminal too. And it was nice of Garnacho to gift West Ham the ball for their first goal. And then the cherry on the cake is Rashford having one of his hide from the ball days. All inexplicable stuff.
Same old from Ruud, same formation, same players, fingers crossed and hope for the best. And guess what, still ****e. Can't finish, can't pass to a team mate, can't defend.
