So every manager that has selected a defensive line up, should get sacked immediately ? Interesting approach.
JFH's defensive line-ups got him to the top of league one ?? Obviously such a failed approach - ridiculous
It is but then when you consider what he's done before and that no manager seems to do well for us, including Hughes who has done a great job at Stoke, it seems no matter who the manager is, there is a deeper problem at the club which makes the task impossible.
I agree Col, it is incredibly frustrating. But you have to give him the rest of the season, to prove himself, bring in his players, and get his ideas working.
Otherwise where do we go, from here, another sacking, no players wanting to come here, because its a mess ???
Surely Hall re-signing indicates he wants to stay, and therefore likes what he is hearing from JFH ??
Money is now tight for us, so to waste more money on sacking JFH, without time to turn things around, and then what another manager, more new ideas, more time to bring his type of players, and it all over again ???
Whoever the manager has been, we've been awful in the cup for years. Next year, can we just opt out and use the weekend for extra training or a mid season break?
All of us need to be honest with ourselves. We are not as good as we think we ought to be. Today was awful sat watching we just seem lacking in quality and confidence.
My worry is that JFH has not been tested and we don't really know his manager material He inherited a great Burton set up that was established and better than most in the league in which he was managing.
Is he as good as we are led to believe? .
A league up is a big jump and I am not convinced he is ready for it sadly. We must stay up this year but in reality we could yet be sucked downward. I hope he settles and finds his team quickly but so far we are lacking a lot of things needed to ensure stability.
We are all hoops through and through but this season will define us I feel. The board have lumped on Les & his decisions could define us as a club for the next 10 years. I hope he gets it right.
Lets look forward to better times but this season will play a huge part in our future. Stay up and build a future or lose our way.

I thought the expectation was to get us into the play offs. If not we should have given Ramsey longer to bed in his players, rather than start the merry go round again. I was told at the C&S a couple of weeks ago that JFH is on a one year rolling contract, he has to start impressing sharpish if he's to last the summer.
Hoopingham's post is very good there. The concern I have with JFH is not his managerial ability. I believe he has a style of football he wants to implement and he is trying to find the right players to suit that. The thing I want to know, is how much power does he have in actually picking the team? Is he under pressure to play the likes of Green, Fer, Sandro, Phillips etc? Because as far as I can see, he is trying to sell them in January so we don't have to play them; it's certainly not because we need the money and anyone with two eyes can see that Green and Fer have been woefully poor for us since JFH has been in charge.
This will always be a time to test our patience, and things will likely get worse before better. I will be reserving complete judgement on JFH until after January where he will have the team as "his" team and hopefully without some of the overpaid, overrated players listed above.

Nope but he walked into a team that had only scored one goal from open play in something like 6 games and only conceded one goal in 5 (a penalty) and thought I know i'll take out the winger and add in Karl Henry
If you want evidence of a defensive approach being ridiculous think of the Huddersfield game as the best example of why in our situation it isn't suited.
Burton are newly promoted side it's acceptable. Lucky enough close games went there way but if those games were draws or lost even no one would have worried too much. Bit like Leicester, approaching games conservatively and playing on the counter.
But a side like us, recently relegated but retaining big names like Austin, having quality come back like Faurlin and adding best players from league below like Luongo it isn't acceptabl to set up against a team like Huddersfield with 7 out of 10 defensive players
Obviously i'm not saying defensive approach is never right and I don't know what I said made you think that. But surely you don't think that it was appropriate in our situation. With game after game drift by with no real attacking intent as the play offs drift further and further away
Then why did you call for his sacking on the matchday thread for JFH's fist match - BEFORE the match even started, purely on the line-up ?

I agree on the Hudderfield line-up, bizarre, but that wasn't what I was referring to, it was the first game, two different games.

Just watching MOTD and mention to my wife I'll keep watching until I see QPR knocked out. "Oh" she says "Lost again did they? At least they got this far". I think she was, in a break with tradition, trying to be supportive re QPR, I usually get sniggers as I stomp back after a game. Through gritted teeth I had to explain that this was, as usual, our first opportunity to lose in this competition.
It's painful supporting this team.
Almost as bad is the way Lawrenson's shirt is stretched over his gut.
Lawrenson has just mispronounced Steven Pienaar's name as 'Penis' so the evening has not been wasted. Still waiting to see us lose. Oh here we are. Done in less than 15 seconds. Not really a loss, more of a mercy killing.
It's painful supporting this team.
