Just listened to the Pearce post match interview and have come to the conclusion that he is a Cnut! He gave us no credit whatsoever but I guess when you have spunked the money he has on a team that couldn't beat lil ol Ipswich who cost feck all, I would be bitter as well...
It just pisses me off when we don't get any credit whatsoever from the armchair pundits to opposition managers! They will all know our fcuking name when we win promotion in May!
Laughs aside, I've got all the time in the world for Stuart Pearce, proper hardman defender who always gave his all to the England cause, respect.
I know what you're saying, but personally I'd rather our team get ignored.... When there's expectation teams usually mess it up. I like us being lil old Ipswich. Great performance again today. Was so gutted at the end but in reflection a great away point.
Yeah, Mick said we've spent about £10,000 which shows what a great job he's doing. Stuart Pearce saying they could of won by 4 or 5 in the end but fails to recognise we could of also been out of sight in the first half.
Not long back from Florist, felt like a loss today getting pegged back in the 94th minute, the players looked totally degected at the final whistle.......however 2 draws offered at the start of the week from two tough away fixtures and we would of all said yes that will do nicely. In the top six as we enter the break, got to be happy with that for the first quarter of the season, if we can keep this up for the rest of the season we will be in the mix for automatic let alone play offs! A real mix of good and bad today, Mings, Murph, Williams pure class, Didsy was poor TBH, as for Gerks great at shot stopping and some 1st class saves but getting to think he has a bit of vampire about him cos he don't like crosses! MW needs to get that sorted over the next couple of weeks, all 3 goals we have conceded this week have come from corners delivered to the heart of our six yard box, Deano has to be coming to gather those, taking no prisoners.
I need to listen to this Pearce interview. If he honestly said they should have won by a decent margin he clearly didn't see any of the game, a point was the maximum they deserved.
Think Westy and Hoppers summed up the game pretty well only a few minner gripes from what was a very good performance, perhaps a game missing a bit of quality but I think Pearce summed it up when he said it was a proper blood and thunder championship final game. First half we were very good, second half I thought Chambers and Berra were outstanding at the back after a barrage of attacks. Sammons ability is questionable but his movement is great and this means he can create space for others, i think it has changed how we attack, we are definitely opening more teams up now because of it. It's something I think Murphy and McGoldrick lack from their game, sometimes they can be abit static which means we have to score from a set piece or a worldy. A few things which concerned me was I think with Skuse and Williams in the team we don't look as balanced as we have done the past few games. Skuse just sits too much, fair enough sit back if your the defensive midfielder but that doesn't mean you still can't get up in support of the attack, it's soo frustrating, one moment in the first half particularly annoyed me with him when we were in a position to attack and he could've run into forward space he stepped back and the passed the ball backwards and it went all the way back to the keeper, so frustrating, I think it's annoying because they guy clearly has the potential to be such a good player at this level. Whilst Williams is clearly a class act again I think he affected the balance of our midfield, we seem not to try to pass and move so much with him in the team so letting the ball do the work, instead we let him do the work. I thought McGoldrick didn't have the best of games either, from what I've seen this season so far is a player who is trying to do too much and impress too much. One thing I would say though is Skuse and McGoldrick look far better in a central 3 than a central 2, I sometimes feel with both of them in their respective positions because they like to sit deep sometimes it leaves whoever they partner alot of space to occupy and alot of work to do if they're in a central 2. The major thing for me though is a pattern I've noticed with all our games this season we start off so intense that come around the 60th minute so many of our players at flat out and worn out from chasing the ball that we just don't keep the ball very well and we invite pressure on ourselves. We need to learn how to take the sting out of a game and play keep ball and be patient, sometimes you don't need to be the team who does the most running to win a match, it's the ball that does the work
Spot on we need to retain a bit more possession and be calmer/ assured when we have it. Looks to be coming though, definitely improving. We couldn't string two passess together at Reading.
Agree with ptc about McG, he does seem to be trying too hard, if that's how you'd describe it. What I've noticed over the last few games is that we are trying to play the ball out from the back more. It lead to scary moments yesterday when there were a couple of occasions where hoofing would've been the better option but I could at least see that we were trying to retain possession. It will all come together as the matches are played, we'll not be in a relegation scrap, of that I'm sure.
Clearly the 1st team have been taking lessons off the under 14s...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDMP3Yhm-IE
I went tonight Warky, bloody freezing. Town dominated the game thoroughly deserved the win, made heavy weather of it though and was not helped by an absolute howler from Bart for Swans goal. However Stewart and Henshall both got 90mins with Both being unlucky not to score with good efforts, Tommy got a game under his belt, there was also some good performance from some of the youngsters, Robinson at RB, MQueen up top and the game was run by a lad called Benyu in the middle of the park for us, he looks a good prospect, let's hope we get a home draw in the next round?
It's all looking pretty good for the future Hoppers. What a huge difference from the Keane and Jewell eras!
