Continued success in the premiership is the only thing that will bring the crowds end of.. We can have the best stadium in the world and it wouldn't make any difference........yes there will be the novalty for a couple of years, but unless we are playing top level football, nothing would change. The propposed new stadium would create interest from potencial sponsors etc.....but unless we can use the finance generated or we inherit another multi billionaire then not much would change. Bristol is a sleeping giant.......but how it's woken up, becomes the biggest question.
Spot on Angelic, agree 100% with everything you say. Time to bring the good times back to Bristol. The support is out there.
Defiantly a sleeping giant waiting to be woken,we have the man at the top to do it,lets get serious and get this club rolling. The last time the feel good factor was all those years ago when i was fifteen year old lad. Scott Davidson could see the potential, but alas the short time he was at the helm allowed Steve L to take over. Steve L has the clout to take city on wards and upwards the real challenge is does he want to see it through. This is the question
"You had you chance with cashing in on Maynard" He didn't want to come to you! He said you were a **** team in a ****hole place... I will never tire of writing that....
We need some signings to wet the appetite,At the moment it does not look to good. The Jody Morris signing does not feel me with excitement.Does anyone on here think it was a good bit of business,to be fair i don't really now much about him.
At present, everything about Bristol City seems, well, non existent! The BBC's last two headlines on our page refer to Fleetwood at Forest in the league cup and Burnley playing Bolton on the first day of next season. This latter headline has been on our BBC page for about three weeks as there is absolutely NOTHING NEWSWORTHY COMING OUT OF ASHTON GATE. No signings, no interviews on I-Player, just a big splash about the new pyjamas range that is doubling as City's kit for the coming season. Will someone at City please do or say something of interest! Sleeping Giant seems as if it's becoming a reality.
I think you can raise crowd by the club really sharpening up their game. It might not be tens of thousands but doing things right gets people onside. Cheaper prices do get fans in and have elsewhere. Join the thinking up and get fans working as selling agents for the club. Simple things like more open days can get a few more in and get kids in to the club for life. Kids love the lions flag day for instance, kids love stickers artwork. Get fans involved in the club not just lobbying for new grounds years away. Get out there in BS3 and make friends with the locals. Try and get that we are all in this togther feeling at the club, make people want to be part of something, everybdoy wants to be part of something. Too much division down there they are treating fans as mugs as customers instead of valued fans e.g EE, family section, club shirt. Wining is a bonus with BCFC City need to get keener at everything because it all helps. Back to topic if I was an investor I would not put money into a club that operates 120% past its income.
Hence the need to increase the fans flow into the ground. The big question is had do you go about it.
Dont call fans customers start off. Upping your game off the park can and will get more in. Treat people with respect, consult before unveiling **** kits and trying to put in family sections where fans were. bit of savvy needed. Lions flag day people turn up just for the flag day. EE fans efforts did raise revenue for the club so get fans onside. Get fans together all fans groups and club togther brainstorm get some ideas up together on how things can be improved and how club and fans can work together. How about open days and a big team photo where those who dont have the cash can get in on it without spending forty sheets on replica shirt? That is how to make friends with fans. Blitz BS3/BS4 in free stickers and posters for locals, get them advertising the club, create some interest and stick on a game at a tenner turn it it into an event with stalls and bar bq's and advertise it weeks in advance not days. Student tickets? EE POD with no membership = exta money ad fans and it dopes not ammer if there are only afew each one is valuable each one could bring another esach one is a potential selluing agent for BCFC.. Every little thing helps and they should be desperate to get more in and know what fans think. When was the last fans survey 2006? Do another. Simple stuff and would not cost much to do and spread good feeling instead ****e shirts which make some look at them and think they look upon fans as ******s who will buy anything.
I agree fans should not be called customers big mistake, but i disagree with you regards this BS3 AND BS4 canvassing. Bristol City fans come from a vast area including major towns and city's and villages outside the boundary. The fan base is massive,Bristol City need to target the vast customer database they have built up over the years. Sadly Bristol City would not survive on the BS3 and BS4 postcodes alone.
Not until Rovers and City merge will Bristol have a decent team in a decent stadium with 30,000 crowds. Is it not better to have one decent team , then 2 poor teams that are losing thousands of pounds a week between then. Bristol United , maybe ?
Its not canvassing it a form of creating interest and using BS3/BS4 as a giant advert. hard to cover north someerset etc as well without a lot of cash being spent. Posters in pubs and businesses fans putting things in windows and people would be able to see it driving in through Bristol. It could be fun for kids and it would raise the clusb profile with littole effort. clubs abroad do it and ones good at it get themsleves seen cost v a players wages is **** all really. Big billboards or painted sides of building a thing Bristol does easily and better than any. whats there now to remind tens of thousands of people driving around there is football club here at all??
I agree no need for it. one team for each district. One for london lancashire yorkshire etc do away with regional names and get each one a sponsor like tesco kfc pizza hut that would be much better.
A bit like saying Hull and a near neighbour joining forces it won't happen. The divide is to big. Bristol has had two football clubs for a very very long time.
Hello Scarborough Tiger. Have you ever suggested that Hull FC (Rugby League) and Hull Kingston Rovers should merge? Maybe you have but only because you live miles away in Scarborough. What about Man City and Man Utd merging? One club in Manchester called Man United? The Bristol merger has been discussed in the past. It was agreed that the club would wear the red shirts of City, the white shorts of BRFC, and the red socks of City. They would play at Ashton Gate as it is twice the size of the Bristol Rugby stadium that BRFC stole from Bristol Rugby. And as the new club would represent the City of Bristol, it would be named BRISTOL CITY FOOTBALL CLUB. So Scarborough do you have any other bright ideas like merging Wednesday and United / Cardiff and Swansea / Liverpool and Everton / Newcastle and Sunderland. I suggest you dismiss mergers from your little Tyke mind!
Well we just beat Forest to a good player, plus it was Dels number one left back target. A few more like this and the natives will be getting excited. Excellent signing is this one,he had Adomah in his back pocket when at Forest last season. We might just be surprised with the quality that arrives this coming season.
