We should never be selling our main players if we really do want to play in the prem.

I'd agree, although if we signed a team full of flair players we wouldn't survive, it's hardly as if Graham is a donkey, he didn't look out of place in a Swansea team playing tikka-takka. We have Aluko for the excitement, all Graham has to do is put the ball in the net 10 times and he'll have done his job.

Knockaert has amazing potential and a real crowd pleaser due to his flamboyancy. When on form he is arguably the most entertaining player this divison has seen. As Knockaert still has a decent amount of time on his contract it would take a big bid for us to sell him.

.. rather a bold statement Proud ... Wilfred Zaha, Tom Ince, Vydra, Craig Bellamy ... even Sako at Wolves - and those straight from the top of my head.

Hobbs and Morgan would be a formidable partnership in this league, shame us and Forest are having one each. We definitely win with Morgan, but I think Hobbs could still turn his career around. I don't blame him for not coming here as he was pretty unceremoniously dumped for the likes of Mills for 6X the price.

Jack may turn his career around but will still only be as good as he's going to be - and personally I don't think that is going to pull up any trees (even at the City ground) - the bit about him having the chance to come here is a red herring for me - basically we told Hull to not only effectively double their bid for kasper but also throw in Hobbs as a make weight. Think that was more to give them our idea of what we felt kasper was worth than any real interest in bringing Jack back - just my take. I see Jack as a pretty average player in this division and certainly not Prem potential at this moment in time (as reflected by his move).

Bamba with Morgan might have seen us promoted last season IMHO.

    You seriously believe that <yikes>

Bamba as a defender was quite bad, individually he was good but his inability to form a partnership with anyone and his positioning at times cost us dear.

I think had Sean St. Ledger played the whole season alongside Wes Morgan we would have done better then what we did

Yes I do - didn't see Everton being linked with a potential £3 m move for St Ledger - nor would a Turkish club have been trying to sign him

I watched Sol in the African Cup Of Nations where he played in a team that didn't concede a goal in normal time (as I recall) playing against strikers that were far better than Championship level - so he is certainly capable of 'forming a partnership' (which takes two by the way) and is technically so much better than Hobbs or St Ledger as a footballer that a comparison is a bit harsh on the other two ..

Bamba could play in midfield because he is such a good athlete - Hobbs and St ledger?

Sean is left for dead by quick feet and Wes would not have been able to cover for that I'm afraid - but it's all about opinions.

    I agree with you Fosse.

I think it was a mistake to let Bamba go, especially for the price.

Could see him and Morgan, after a season getting used to each other and Nigel getting into the defensive side of Bamba's game, being very, very good.

They didn't concede a goal all tournament but lost on penalties in the final after a 0-0 draw.

Bamba was much better as a midfielder than a defender (I saw him regularly when he was playing for Dunfermline). I said somewhere when you signed him that he should be used as a holding midfielder, sit him in front of the defence to protect them and let his partner in midfield have a free role to go forward.

Sol Bamba played about 2 games in midfield

We never looked solid as a unit with Bamba at the back. For people who dont know much about him is his similar to David Luiz at Chelsea where you never know what he is going to do. He isnt what you call reliable or dependable at the back but dont get me wrong he was good at tackling, heading, blocking etc.
