As Springsteen's autobiography is about to be released, here's a reminder of why he was seen as a saviour of rock and roll long before The River made him a household name. I was busking one day and this girl passed by. I remember I used to pass her walking to school every day on my way to my first job. So anyway, she was wearing a Greetings From Asbury Park teeshirt and I started playing Saint in the City. She lit up. It's the little moments that make life worthwhile, as a Springsteen song might say. Also love the guitar duel with Steven on this:
