dave,luke kelly was a great singer,and the words of this song must have been so true for the irish lads that came to liverpool to work.

You must have been in a nationalist area of Belfast to sing this particular song on a table in a boozer?
 
This is seriously the best slowey song ever dave,i first heard it in the jasmine cafe in Huyton villiage when i was a can lad on the municipal building site and was waiting for the bacon and egg butties order for the lads.

My band used to do a killer rendition of that. I insisted I got to play the riff. It was probably the only Roy Wood song that was easy for the staff to learn. Trying to knock 'See My Baby Jive' into them was impossible.

No probs singing any Liverpool songs (even Fields of Anfield Road) in Loyalist areas. BTW if you listen to the words its about born and bred Scousers!
