It looks really good down there now doesn't dave,but remember the days of going for the New Brighton ferry before they sand blasted the Liver Building.?

It was black with all the soot from the ships funnels.

I prefer it now but remember when the pier head was vibrant and the Albert Dock was silted up.

and the overhead was still standing - not running but still standing. And all the buses were green Corpy and Crosville (forgot the Ribble ones!)
 
In the 50s I could name all of the shipping lines operating out of Liverpool and identify their funnels - how good was that!

The overhead had been demolished before i was on the scene but i remember the Crosville's(they were different models to the corpy buses)and the red Ribble buses.

Imagine if they had the foresight back then to keep the dockers umbrella and the money they'd have made from tourists using it.

Would have made a lot of money mate, i missed out on the overhead but would of loved going on it
 
I did ride on it when i was very young. It closed about 1956/7 I think. The Sothern end of the line was Dingle
