My teenage daughter nagged me into getting their last album but left the CD in my car after her driving lessons. Her own car has bluetooth, so she doesn't need it now. Love it. Credit to Janice Long and and Alex Lester for never having them off R2 when I'm on nights.
Good stuff, although I do find 'Stay Gold' to be their most commercial album thus far. It's a little too polished IMO However, I would strongly recommend 'The Lions roar' (2012) and 'The Big Black and the Blue' (2010). Both fine albums. There is also an EP previous to those called 'Drunken Trees' (2008) with their really early stuff, also very good
You can hear all that 50's/60's beat/folk stuff with Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell and a bit of Buffy St Marie. Hypnotic.
Indeed, and this track pays homage to some of their other influences..........Emmylou Harris, June Carter, Johnny Cash and Gram Parsons
Saw Emmylou AND the McGarrigle sisters at the Royal Court back in the 70's. We didn't have colour in them days though, and it rained on my Hovis. A bit like Manchester now.
Indeed it is, but it's more of a tribute to Clapton (who himself rates Prince highly as a guitarist) than Harrison, as it was Clapton who actually played the solo on the original recording (unattributed though).
