*sigh* But we're releasing them into the atmosphere at a higher rate than nature dictates. We ARE meant to be entering a new ice-age, but human activity is causing the planet to heat up, which is in turn releasing more greenhouse gases trapped in nature, increasing the scale of the problem. What you fail to grasp is it's human existence that is at risk here, not the existence of Earth. The planet/nature/... will survive long after we're gone, we're just a blip <ok>

The greenhouse effect is a natural process by which some of the radiant heat from the Sun is captured in the lower atmosphere of the Earth, thus maintaining the temperature of the Earth's surface. The gases that help capture the heat, called “greenhouse gases,” include water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and a variety of manufactured chemicals. Some are emitted from natural sources; others are anthropogenic, resulting from human activities.

toby dont do the whole 'sigh' thing

I have never said humans dont contribute

Even the IPCC say 'Our ability to quantify the human influence on global climate is currently limited'

as i have consistently said this is the natural process for th earth but I am sure humans aint helping

We may be at risk or we may adapt (as man has done many times)

I know what the greenhouse effect is thanks. I just found it funny the way you said scientifically.

Adding 'scientifically' doesn't make things true <doh>

Unless it's: Scientifically, thefanwithnoname has no brain <ok>

You didn't actually have to say scientifically. That's why I found it funny.

    whats to add?

The stuff I put in the OP was in effect to highlight that the earth goes through cycles, cooling and warming

The ice age thing is/was a digression

Some of the CFC impact etc has ultimately not happened as quickly as Budyko and subsequent scientists foretold

I dont know if you read the quote from the beginning? sums it up for me

Humans are possibly adding to the global warming concept but interms of what scientists believe has happened over the earths existence it has these cycles

Yes, it does have these cycles, please mention where I said it didn't. We're in an inter-glacial period, and about to enter an ice-age. The planet should be cooling, not warming. Human existence is causing the planet to warm.

I don't think you even know what you're thinking, you have a very confused mind <ok>

    are you sure?

An ice age or, more precisely, glacial age, is a generic geological period of long-term reduction in the temperature of the Earth's surface and atmosphere, resulting in the presence or expansion of continental ice sheets, polar ice sheets and alpine glaciers. Within a long-term ice age, individual pulses of extra cold climate are termed "glacial periods" (or alternatively "glacials" or "glaciations" or colloquially as "Ice Age" ), and intermittent warm periods are called "interglacials". Glaciologically, ice age implies the presence of extensive ice sheets in the northern and southern hemispheres;[1] by this definition we are still in the ice age that began at the start of the Pleistocene (because the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets still exist).

Toby said we were enter a new area of cooling and you said we weren't. I provided a link from NASA confirming this and you ask "what's to add?"
