    man you get annoying

    read what you asked me.

Some of what scientists in the 80's said would happen by 2010 hasnt happened. The warmer meditteranean winters was just one example. Other include the rate of the polar ice caps melting etc

No not being funny, as I say what was said in the 80's has not transpired, theories have changed/been revisited.

Thought you would have/heard seen this

Honestly, a lot of the time it's difficult to understand what you're trying to say.

Most claims reagarding climate change are sensible and not OTT like the examples you cite. They sound more like newspaper headlines if I'm being honest. What you seem to be claiming is that the effect of CC hasn't been as fast as a few scientists predicted. However, most scientific studies show that the rate will be slow for the first half of the 21st century then will speed up.

I think the problem here is you're prone to exaggeration which makes it difficult to tell if you're being genuine or just taking the piss!

    prone to exaggeration?????

i think your seeing things that are not there tbh

if you dont understand what i am saying it clarifies your scattered responses

my OP is not 'headline' statements. they are scientific facts. the responses thereof are to questions which i will be happy to clarify

oh and this was a direct response to toby hence the name of the thread

    Right I'm back!

The bit where you're wrong is that the Earth is meant to be cooling at the mo and it's actually warming up. So the ice-age bit is bollocks <ok>

The earth goes in cycles of cooling and warming. There have been several ice ages. The fact that we're here at all is because we're on the arse end of the last ice age and the earth is warming still.

Man's activities may (or may not) exacerbate the earth warming, but neither can we do anything to stop it.

I find it hard to understand what you're saying because it appears to be in pidgin English!

"my OP is not 'headline' statements. they are scientific facts."

This sentence sums up exactly my point about why I find you difficult to understand. These are not scientific "facts". They are estimates based on the amount of data that is available and a fair bit of guess work.

For someone who claims to have been a maths teacher I find some of your statements quite incredible. In order to have got to the level of teaching mathematics in school you must have a reasonable grasp on scientific methodology and quantitative research so how you can pass off estimated dates as fact is beyond me!

    ST you say

'This sentence sums up exactly my point about why I find you difficult to understand. These are not scientific "facts". They are estimates based on the amount of data that is available and a fair bit of guess work.'

so it could be a load of bollocks, which is what I have been trying to say. COULD BE. you need to decide if science is factual as you assert sometimes or based on guess work

you need to get off the 'i dont believe you' connotations re my background. Not only do i not give a ****, but honestly my world does not revolve around what you think

All i do know is that you tend to resort to basically 'childish tantrums' on virtually everything on here if you disagree

I told you earlier I was fitting comments in between other tasks, so the sentences are short
not my fault you cant understand it

You're trying to change it again. You said they were "facts". This is exactly what you said:

"my OP is not 'headline' statements. they are scientific facts."

I'm sorry but you do it all the time. You make a statement, people point out the flaw in it and you come back "yes, but that wasn't what I meant".

    It's rubbish mate.

    which bit you referring to?

If you look at the opening thread its on the earths cycle

Basically earth cools then earth warms up then cools.......

ice age is the generic term the real term is Glacial age

The point being that we are coming to the end of a glacial age (as the earth has done before) therefore global warming was inevitable (as it was before)

not changing anything, the statement was in direct response to your assertion that i was making headline statments and saying scientists have said....

As i say decide if scientists are giving fact or guesswork then we shall continue

The only rubbish on here is coming from you, backtracking doesnt make it less real

No we're entering a new ice-age and our planet is meant to be cooling, but instead it's warming. There's no explanation for it apart from Greenhouse gases. <ok>
