Not really, the traitorous act was the prods (presbyterians mostly), who were also suffering oppression at the hands of the British state, abandonding the republican movement of the late 1700s and early 1800s
I knew full well that it was the British 'invasion' that was the root of the trouble from way back. To this day I still don't understand why it was required to 'own' Ireland. Like most ongoing battles around the world, it will never be truely over as far too much blood has been spilled. Whichever way you look at it, it's simply human nature to want to take control of what others have - it's exactly the same story all over the world and all over history. The only things that change are the names of those involved and the particular horrors attributed to that conflict.
