Just read on Twitter that the police are restricting fans movement in the town centre too - one bloke just tweeted that 3 of them arrived on the train, had their details taken by police and were shipped into Wetherspoons. Sounds like a few are at my suggestion of The Crown on Westgate (turn right at Nando's and go up the hill).
Massive props to those who have made the protest march today and fingers crossed it's gone off without a hitch
Large peaceful and vocal Huddersfield fans joined in Shoppers clapped as it went through the streets Have a look at @HDMAlCoggan on twitter, she was the fail's reporter there
I've posted photos onto the Championship Banter page on Facebook which has 10000+ fans on to get the word out a little more. Some of those fans had no idea what it was actually about.
hhhmmmmmmmmm where do u live? celtic and rangers fans both arrive on the subway. just get off different stops for different pubs ect.. at the end of the weekend these guys work together
The subway goes in a circle but at ibrox, the away celtic fans aren't allowed to use the subway, they get designated buses, when they leave the stadium, they get cordoned off and free buses to city centre or the east of the city
Great to get so many udders fans and the stokies. Must say the police I spoke to seemed genuinely to be embarrased by the situation.Or maybe the two I shared the urinal with at the station were grooming me to be a grass/their lover. I parked up in industrial zone a few minutes from the ground and walked into town. There was a police video van with approx 8-10 officers laughing and joking. It was 21.15 and they were there before me!There were other vans on side streets in town. All onwyp bill.Well done GED WOOD MAC Party over. Thanks for all who were on the march. looking forward to Tuesday
Not saying it's not happened but I'd be inclined to ask for more details. There was no such problem for me. I arrived at about 1pm so presumably on the same train if they were tweeting about it around the time you posted. I got off with my jacket undone so I was quite clearly wearing amber, one of them looked straight at me and did nothing about it. They did go to speak to somebody getting off another carriage, but I was then outside for a while and nobody was escorted past me towards Wetherspoons, we'd have seen it and there were too many media people there at that stage for them to get away with that. I asked them for directions somewhere and they gave them to me without a saying anything about having to go to a certain place or stay in the square. I then spent the rest of the day walking round with a City scarf and Town scarf both clearly visible, other than fans the only people who asked anything about it were the steward at the turnstiles who asked who I supported, and the doorman on the pub at the station who queried the City scarf until I pointed out the other one was a Town scarf.
The gate was less than 12,000. (11,992 from memory) but thats pathetic and just showed that the protest to stay away was a good one. From those who went its been said that some coppers said it was a disgrace what there bosses had done. But its all over with now and we got what we wanted. The only real losers have been Huddersfield both on and off the pitch.
Some one asked way up the thread if there had even been a complete boycott - well check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boycott that's where the word originates. My sons and I would have gone to the match yesterday but the decision was made to boycott it - and that will apply to any future games subject to ludicrous official zombie restrictions
