Record it - do NOT respond. I'm a seasoned campaigner at this kind of thing - and precisely that attitude is what the filth and agitators will be banking on. They will have the press on their side, they will influence opinion by ANY hint of trouble. Don't be a divvy - be assertive, but walk away before you retaliate - to anything. Anything else will be throwing yourselves to the salivating wolf of the establishment and media. You will not get a fair hearing, despite your expectations. Seriously - (and that advice came from a certain Anthony Benn and his wife about 25 years ago who took a panning on another thread from some know-nothing ******, but the bloke did give away his wealth in a trotskyistic (NOT "communinstic") philanthropic gesture (soup kitchens for striking miners and scholarships) but did not jepordise his and his kids security as he was all-too aware of the old elite waiting in the wings waiting for their opportunity to re-assert themselves over the masses - which happened and is continuing to take palce as we speak. Taking politics out of the National Curricculum in the 1990's was their masterplan and it worked. Ideology and values have been replaced by Murdoch and Dacre - and "small businessmen" who make a comfortable living off the backs of their limited number of employees on the basis that the are "producers of weatlh. Well for whom? Themselves, their financial advisors and usually a spouse or next-of-kin who in reality does nowt but is listed as an administrator for tax and salary purposes! It all boils down to this: If you are in a position of power (in whatever capacity) and you play the system to your advantage then you are deemed "successful" If you are not, and you play the system to your advantage, then you are deemed a crook, scrounger or criminal. Be savvy, don't get sucked in if you are marching on Saturday.
Have you misread my post? You've just told me that what I said is what the police want us to do, then told me to do exactly the same thing I said I was going to do.
Maybe - just know when to walk away - and know when to be cynical when dealing with the old, old establishment. It often changes it's guise, but never it's nature. Oh, if you want deep - then this is Benn. "As a minister, I experienced the power of industrialists and bankers to get their way by use of the crudest form of economic pressure, even blackmail, against a Labour Government. Compared to this, the pressure brought to bear in industrial disputes is minuscule. This power was revealed even more clearly in 1976 when the IMF secured cuts in our public expenditure. These lessons led me to the conclusion that the UK is only superficially governed by MPs and the voters who elect them. Parliamentary democracy is, in truth, little more than a means of securing a periodical change in the management team, which is then allowed to preside over a system that remains in essence intact. If the British people were ever to ask themselves what power they truly enjoyed under our political system they would be amazed to discover how little it is, and some new Chartist agitation might be born and might quickly gather momentum" How can you argue with that? Do you not think the rise of Libdem, Ukip and a couple of years ago BNP do not support that "new chartist agitation" prophecy at least in some way? There is obviously appetite for a new politics - we are just some way from making it coherent and electable. Maybe "electability" is the problem (shock - Horror!) Disclaimer: None of this of-course matters as long as the march (and day) goes off without arrest and city get 4 points from the next 2 games which will put them odds-on for promotion! Let's not loose sight of that at any cost!
HCFC and the marchers are not the focus for the WYP. It's a minor irritant for them- the real objective is to shake some money out of the West Yorkshire clubs. Having lost to the vermin in court , they are smarting and taking it out on HTFC, LUFC and BCFC. Unfortunately for us, our game has been caught up in the middle of it all.
I liked Tony Benn, he was an excellent diarist. His politics were like many of his kind a little bit flawed. His views on the control of the country became outdated when we as a country lost our industrial clout. Unions became weaker and the major industrialists lost their money. Globalisation destroyed the grip that the old money had. The banks no longer have as much control. Russian, India and China followed after the Middle East to move into the UK. They don't give a hoot about the politics as they just flash the cash.
I always thought TB to be on an intellectual ego trip-yet not savvy enough to realise it was making his party unelectable. In my opinion he damaged that which he claimed he wished to save. I remember him arriving in a morris minor playing man of the people whilst still living a privelleged life, imo taking the piss. I did not agree with Militant tendency but at least they would only accept the average wage of those yhey sought to represent. I only suggested he may have been a tory plant cos when he supported a cause it was almost guarunteed to turn off Mr and Mrs Average and damage that which he professed to support
Septum. To clarify I have no idea if TB was a plant.I (as a labour voter) am just aghast by the idealistic unelectable decision making of those who get off on being"true labour".Ed not David?Benn not Blair? You have to learn to be brighter. You have to learn to fight clever and not simply massage your own egos
As Harold Wilson said, " The trouble with Tony is that he immatures with age" and "He was Little Lord Fauntelroy then one day got very excited after seeing a workman wearing denim". He was privileged and don't give away his wealth. He had a profitable family business, where workers had to ring a bell to get permission to have a toilet break, and in addition his wife was a millionaires in her own right. He t his own kids up with flats worth over £250,000 at the time, a lot more now, so they could go into politics without worrying about mundane things like having to work for a living and earn a wage. He once said "we have to defend our class at this election". Which class is that? It certainly isn't working class. Don't doubt his sincerity, but the man is a fool and would have got nowhere without his inherited wealth. Anyone can be a socialist when they have enough money to be free from the worry of making a living.
Here I was happily reading thoughts on tonights issues and the game, next minute I'm in the middle of ****ing "Question Time"
Good luck with the protest lads n lasses , hope its productive and sends a clear message that we all hope . I like the idea of showing the "face/person" behind the "fan" - especially as the police in the control rooms seem to have lost that thought . And for those attending the game , IMO good luck to you too !!!!
If you're going to this game you are not only a disgrace to the club but to football as a whole. There's nothing more to add - it really IS that simplistic.
maybe i agree with the principle but people are free to decide freedom of choice on travel isnt as important to them , i dont see a reason to lambast them for it . i am speaking as someone who hasn't been away since 2006 mind you.
Who are you to judge anyone !!! Sat behind a keyboard giving it the big un ! How dare you call any Hull city fan for not agreeing with your view !!!! ****ing tool. Why dont you man up, and stand by what you say and but a name and address to to that pseudonym you are using ! You really are a dick !
Whilst I don't 100% agree with BCC's post. You do realise you come across has a complete **** with posts like this? Also where's your name and address?
I find it difficult to understand how trouble at the game (or march?) would make a point that WYP have got it wrong. The only way any police force could guarantee no trouble would be by carrying out a total restriction of movement and freedom of action. The political discussion that followed this remarkable statement only served to give some of the attitudes to others a political perspective - more politics encouraged on a non-political board. A bunch of people make a pledge to lose weight and stay off the cookies, during the night one of them sneaks downstairs and pinches a cookie from the jar - no real harm done, he thinks, after all it is just a principle, isn't it? I am sure WYP will see the principle in sitting in the home stand, not.
Really,Why is that ? Here we have people time and time again giving it the big un slagging off fans (own fans) using a pseudonym If you are going to be that out spoken dont hide behind the keyboard say it out allowed !!! BCC you wanna pm me fine i can do that. But as you are call 400+ fans why dont you put your name and address for all to see !
