All irrelevant of course, as he's basically hung up his boots

Interesting little side issue. AN has stated he will meet Bassong on Monday to discuss his future.

Good to see he's already highlighted a potential area of trouble and is moving swiftly to sort it out. I hope he can get him to agree to be a team player and stay.

This is intriguing - and makes a lot of sense. But I can't see where you found out about it, there's nowt on Newsnow?
Also Foy has shown 8 red cards in 15 matches in charge, according to radio Norfolk yesterday - surely this gives any appeal made by Norwich over Howson's dismissal a bit of weight - he's obviously totally incompetent?

It's in the interview with the Press which KIO posted and directed me to on the match day thread.

I just can't believe Supers is trying to steal my under when I mentioned this earlier in the thread! <laugh>

Sorry Rob. I didn't realise you'd brought it up. I don't read your posts all the way through ;)

I have mixed feelings about Bassong being a disruptive influence after the way he's behaved. Certainly the defence has been our weakest area, but I'm just not sure about it.

We are 8 points off automatic promotion. Of the top 5 we have played Bournemouth twice - getting 4 points - and have played all of the other 4 away leaving them with a visit to Carrow Road. Win those - difficult but not impossible - and the maximum gap becomes 5 points which, bearing in mind that those top 5 will also have to play each, is not an impossible situation. I don't think we will do it but, mathematically, it is quite feasible.

I've had a horrible feeling those two disastrous games against Reading will prevent us getting automatic promotion but the play offs are comfortably within our reach

Bassong returned to fully functional factory settings by a no-nonsense manager he has respect for would be just what is needed by the currently depleted squad. I guess the unknown is the effect his recent behaviour has had on other players and hence the team dynamics, but I get the feeling that AN will cut through all of that c**p in no time. Could be great news for the run-in.

Despite AN's apparent man management skills, I wouldn't hold out too much hope that Seb returns to our side.

Fair comment but it's over the season. At the moment it could be home slip-ups to Bournemouth, Birmingham, Rotherham, Leeds and Charlton.

No, I realise that we could stipulate any games we wish, but they are the two most disappointing in my opinion. We've had games which we lost/drew that we should have won, but those two Reading games were absolutely terrible results considering how bad the run of form they were on at both times. Literally six points dropped. Inexcusable.

I don't think this is right. Our lack of goals has costs us more. I think the number of games we have played well in, but failed to score is greater than the games when we have failed to defend adequately.

There have been some games where we failed to score, but overall only Bournemouth(55) and Derby(47) have scored more goals than our 46, so the potential is there to improve on that (given that Hooper has only played 12 games). Jerome has 12 goals in 20 games, Hooper has 5 goals in 11 games, and their developing partnership could be the key. Grabban and Johnson have 7 each and other mid-fielders have also contributed. The weakest scoring has been on the flanks, where Redmond has got 1 goal and Lafferty none.

We are 3rd in goals scored , but 8th in goals conceded. IMO, we can get more wins if we concede fewer goals through individual mistakes and lack of concentration.

Presumably because they're so poorly written they need to be read twice to be made head or tail of.
