I have a friend who has a cousin that is a top lawyer in London, the type that rips off, sorry, charges £1000s per hour. My friend reckons if anything was happening there would be talk among the higher echelons of legal workers in the Smoke and his cousin would hear about it. There is no talk. Just saying.
Am I the only one that: a) Thinks there is substance behind this one this time. There is just to much media coverage and with Ashley doing his thing on Monday gives it more credibility. It just feels different this time. b) Hopeful that we might actually get a group of people who can actually do a good job and run the club properly. I am not saying for us to buy expensive players and win things. I mean provide us with some actual hope. c) Believes that if the takeover goes through that one of the conditions must be for Rafa to accept the contract offer and provide him with promises of funds. Look the above three things are positive IMO. On a slightly different slant, if it does go through and Rafa does get money to spend then he will thus have no excuses if we do not improve on the pitch. Having said that, I genuinely do believe we would improve.
I've helpfully highlighted the flaws in the above statement. You're a Newcastle fan. Hope and positivity will only set you up for disappointment later. Ashley is here forever. Still, it could be worse. You could have been born a Mackem.
It does feel a bit more serious this time just as the Stalvey links did last year and although that all fell apart it sounded like she was haggling hard on the deal with all the additional clauses which doesn't sound like the case this time if the media is to be believed. Agreed if we get a bit of money to spend we could really improve, we really only need a few semi decent players to start looking at the top half of the table (probably at best) but a RB, cover LB, a CM to replace and hopefully improve on Hayden, a winger, AM and a CF would make us much more competitive. If we could get 3 of those in each of the next 2 windows next year could be quite exciting - if the new supposed new owners are in before January. Still not getting my hopes up until the deals done...
I find it very hard to believe that Ashley really wants to sell. He gets too much profits and free advertising to sell his golden egg. I hope I've misjudged him.
a) Having had a decade of endless bullshit takeover rumours, I think it's a given that we'd all have some scepticism whenever a hint of yet another takeover rears it's distorted head. Nothing to suggest it's any different than one of the others so far. b) I think that's a given if we get taken over, I can't think of anyone who could run the club worse than this inept corrupt mound of blubber.......with the possible exception of maybe if the Venky's getting bored bored of destroying Blackburn and try to have a go and wrecking us even more than Ashley has done. c) If the offer is serious, then obviously they're gonna see we have a manager who is out of our league, and do all they can to keep him, as we blatantly won't get better.
I am not asking names but may I ask for which Firm? I may have done some work for them and I am, well, just interested in my old clients.
I didn't ask names either mate, sorry We all know that Ashley is talking BS here, or that he won't entertain anyone who won't pay what he thinks he can get. It just ain't gonna happen.
It's an Ashley ploy to stop the protests/ boycotts and protect Sports Direct. Keith Bishop masterstroke.
He does it every year now he's a bit goofy . Most people feel sorry for goofy people but in my experience they are usually arseholes.
It’s serious, he hasn’t the time anymore. High street mission too important. Might not be Kenyon, might take a few months, might be dependent on staying up, but he’s going.
