Fair enough. Just don't think that you have to accommodate everybody, let alone try to please them. You'll never do it. There are many Saints oriented football forums out there. Two years ago this was easily the best of them, possibly because it consisted of posters who put up with the previous BBC606 rules, which were rather strict. The other forums are largely ruined because, 1] nothing lasts, and 2] they evolved too much to accommodate and lost their reason to be. Try not to let it happen to Not606.

No bloody way am I going to join a Saints forum.

Then again, I could and do my part for Pompey-Saints relations.

And not in a SB3 way.

Anyhow, there's far too much drama here. I just think people would like the opportunity to occasionally talk about off topic things. A single thread might get a bit convoluted but it may work.

Below is a couple of new suggestions that have come in From Beef dripping. They are on an edited update to the initial Post. However to save you having to go back to the beginning any other views?

Lots of football forums I'm on have just a 'chat thread' stickied where we can talk about any old bollocks.
Any further ideas what about this one........

Another idea submitted by Beefy.............How about we have one stickied O/T for general chit chat that is kept and one more O/T thread that is based on a subject that lasts 24 hours?.

How is having a dedicated thread any different from a sub-forum? The Newcastle board has one.

I echo this. I find it difficult to accept the fact that our request for a sub-forum was turned down considering the Newcastle lot have their own.

The off topic issue would not be such an issue if certain posters could control themselves and stop picking a fight with anyone and everyone just because they can! If people behaved on line as they do in the real world then things would be much much better.

I agree with the changes to the forum rules proposed by Beddy, let's hope they work before too many more people give up as well.

It's posts like this that start fights. It's a vicious circle because people like you don't realise that.

A sub-forum like Newcastle's would be awesome, but the sticky thing is good too.

A sub-forum would be perfect, as long as it doesn't end up like GC *shudders*

I'd be willing to put myself forward to moderate it is as well (a Pompey fan moderating a Saints forum? How deliciously absurd)

How is this picking a fight?? It is the overreaction to anyone who disagrees which drives people away.

    Yes you have see below......

Some time ago we had requests for a sub Forum which we passed to the administration team. At that time we were told it was not possible as there were issues with what was then the new server.
Since then the topic has been raised by numerous Mods on our own board a number of times. Once again it has been raised and is being debated by the mods although to-date we still have not had a response from the admin team.

So perhaps you need to pay a bit more attention to what is actually said!

The thing with the Word Association thread is though off topic it is not a thread where you actually create a discussion. It is still regularly used and seems popular with a few. I may be showing my lack of vocabulary/knowledge but there has been a few times where I have felt the need to google the latest word to find something suitable. You could almost say that it is educational after a fashion.

As a grandfather I could accept using this particular thread (word association) in such a way.

Our forum began with everybody(nearly) being ultra polite and at times could be a tad boring. The best thing about us as we have grown is the diversity of opinion. My only problem is with the personal abuse which is becoming more persistent. For me the only thing that is really needed is a tightening of the moral code. Less abuse and more reasoning whether accurate or not is of no real concern. No matter how ludicrous we may feel someone has been, all one needs to say is I don't agree, or are you sure etc.

One good thing about having an off topic thread could be that before the name calling on a thread became unbearable one of the protagonists could suggest taking the squabble across.
