I guess my point was that it's more a comparable relation of perspective, because absolutely having western "rational" comprehension of the other worldly does actually influence our decisions, just as Muslim views enhance a certain decision as right. Not having to observe god/not believing means you think you can, law apart, theoretically do what you want, so it's all relative.

About contractual obligations, I believe it would be the employers prerogative when signing players to assess whether the belief of the player has any conflict with the contract. It's an easy question to ask, "will you be observing X or Y-religious practices?", and it is their choice whether or not to sign those players from there, not the employees responsibility to stop observing the practices to comply with the contract. Fundamentally, I doubt anyone here, if they could warp back in time and have influence on whether muslim players were signed, would stop the likes of Cisse or Ba, or indeed Ben Arfa coming.

Also, I disagree with your comments about team spirit. Any sort of like-minded activity is bound to influence bonds and togetherness, as it does in life. Playing for Newcastle itself is such an activity, and the more the squad have in common the more they should bond. Of course, you are correct in stating other factors, but religion must have some sort of affect. If I joined a squad where all the other players were Swedish and Scientologists, I think it'd be difficult to immerse myself in the team ethic without a blend of good management and finding some common ground.

I absolutely agree with you about whether it makes you better at football, but (and this is where it is difficult for me to remain a detached or objective atheist) little rituals are a part of a players confidence and mental state, which can not be under-estimated in the modern game. But it's just my opinion.

<laugh> I love the last comment, so have some rep. Scoring bucket loads of goals for western non-believers is the ultimate jihad like... It's as if they believe god is playing life-size Fifa with them as his be-a-pro-career... But would anyone really go up to one of our players and tell them that? I'd rather they possibly be deluded (seriously, pretty much all of us on this thread are ****ed if they're right...) and doing well personally!

About the bold bit, not all Muslim players actually strictly observe the fasting, as the article I linked in suggests. Some "make-up" for it later. So it's still a pretty fair and comparable example, in my opinion.

When Mummy and Daddy get back (Agent Bruce and Albie), you'll be in for such a botty spanking if you can't learn to play nice <ok>

Til then, I have the ability to delete your posts.

Did I say this was a fair and legal trial...? <rofl>

This is martial law, and you seem to be trying to wum people and impose nonsense for your own twisted satisfaction, Mr Tiote. Now either grow up and add something worthwhile to proceedings, or find someone else's thread who will tolerate this silliness.

So, Newcastle fans, did I get played by Spaceboy? I gather there's some history that I don't know about judging from the subsequent comments, the other thread (now, I think, deleted), and his banning from the site. What's the story with him?
