Just a little teaser to keep people distracted on what feels like Christmas Eve mixed with the drive to the dentist.

Which World Cup winner played his first professional game against the following Saints team?

Jones

Warner - Lundekvam - Dryden - Benali

Beresford - Richardson - Palmer (Gibben) - Saberski (Bridge)

Basham - Hirst (Sarli)

I'll reveal the answer later on today so if you think you've got it then send me a private message so as not to spoil it for everyone else.

Correct Answers:

(I'll add the names here later)

Blimey, that wasn't all that long ago and yet I can't honestly remember Warner, Saberski or Sarli. This was a Premier league team! They would struggle in today's Championship (although I wouldn't mind Lundekvam right now and you've got to love Benali).

Don't know the answer though.

Cosimo Sarli had a brilliant season for the reserves and had a ridiculous record of 12 goals in 18 games but was never given a chance by the incoming manager and ended up in Serie B I think. Saberski was a trialist and apparently never seen again and Phil Warner was defensive back up for 4 years playing 6 times for the Saints and was last seen in a Totton shirt.

The player in question has further links to the club, quoting the great Matt Le Tiss as on of his favourite players.
