Someone in another thread had the nerve to criticise Bill Shankly. How dare they? To call Shanks a football personality is like asking if the Pope is Catholic.

Big Ron Atkinson for me. I will never forget his comment when some reporter tried to goad him (just after the rule came in that Managers were not allowed to criticize the referee) and asked him what he thought about the performance by the Referee, to which Ron replied "I am not allowed to criticize the referee so I won't mention the prick"!

The Clown Prince of Soccer ..............Len Shackleton. First saw him play when I was 10 and he was my idol throughout my teenage years. Loved his disdain for Football authority and determination to play the game to entertain the crowd and personally enjoy it. He was a Yorkshire lad and is one of the best footballers I have ever seen.

He was also famous for his autobiography. One chapter was entitled ''The average director's knowledge of football.'' It consisted of a single blank page.

Jimmy Bullard, how i miss his total commitment to the team, his silky skills, those long flowing locks and a great all round person who would happily sit and chat to fans in the pub!

He DID play in the ex-tigers CRY charity match in the Airco Arena at Christmas. May have played in others too.

At a local level 'Jock' Davidson (and his wife and mother in law if I may say so), on a wider level, Brian Clough, not so much Peter Taylor though, and of course the sheer entertainers some whom have already been mentioned. Best, Currie, Worthington, Marsh, Trevor Hockey, and a tower of a referee we could do with in todays game, Jack Taylor.
