Ange moaning that Spurs could not have fitted a re-play into their schedule was pathetic. If you couldn't re-play, then withdraw from the Cup and let Tamworth through to the 4th Round. But no. Instead Spurs get to have their cake and eat it. It was obvious that Tamworth players could not match Tottenham for stamina over an extra 30 minutes. Straight to penalties after the 90 would have been fairer on them. But not as fair as a re-play. They earned it. But they have been denied it because of greedy elite Clubs who would rather take their 'worn out' players on tours of Arabia and America to play pointless friendlies for some of this then moan that there are too many games. Snouts in the trough. Nothing more, nothing less.
Look away now @lardiman El Classico was a great game last night , Real Madrid 2 Barcelona 5. Just one problem though - the game took place in Riyadh Not only that, we were treated to the sight of fans who are normally sworn enemies - all Arabs naturally , sitting alongside each other. I understand that the Spanish FA has also sold the rights of the Spanish Cup final to the the Saudis. A sure sign of what’s to come.
Interesting article in Private Eye "Saudi Watch". Executions are at record levels, including at least 100 foreign nationals. Crimes include online posts, joining peaceful protests and attending funerals. 3 were sentenced to death for peacefully opposing the clearing of their ancestral homeland to build the Neom stadium for the world Cup. The brother of one who refused to leave his home was simply shot dead in his home. You won't read about it in the mainstream press.
Sports-washing of the most cynical variety. As far as I know, out of the hundreds of pundits, ex-players etc. commentating on English Football on radio and TV, not one has come out and even mildly criticized what the Saudi's are doing. Not one. They all know what side their bread is buttered, the bunch of spineless Quislings. It's been left to Amnesty and a few equal rights campaigners. Sky, TalkSport, even the BBC are complicit. What have GB News had to say about the matter? (by the way, political comment is fine here on this subject, as it is to do with football) Thousands will be killed or maimed building those stadia in Saudi for the World Cup Finals. The slavery and abuses will be horrific. But it will all be hushed up.
The wife of Arsenal striker Kai Havertz has shared screenshots of abuse she received on social media including threats to the couple's unborn child. The forward, 25, missed a glorious chance to win the game in normal time and then had his penalty saved by United keeper Altay Bayindir in the shootout as United won 5-3 on penalties following the 1-1 draw. The German's wife Sophia posted to her Instagram story two direct messages she had received on the platform. Arsenal have reported the abuse to the police and are working with a specialist data firm to try to identify the culprits. Copied from the BBC Sports page online. What is the matter with some people? Threatening an unborn baby because it's dad misses a penalty. Sniveling cowards. Find them, name them and shame them. Probably still living rent-free in their parents' house. I know this happens after every game when a high profile player makes a gaffe. Give him stick by all means, but don't post such stupid rubbish.
Morons. As for the player Havertz himself, a pathetic cowardly dive yesterday - nothing less than blatant cheating. Ironically, the penalty would have been overturned had the FA Cup had VAR…
I don't get this. "One of the usual suspects". Is that a racial or religious slur? I'm not a member of X or Instagram so I cannot clarify this myself. If nobody else can enlighten me within the next hour I'll delete the above post.
Cheltenham Town has apologised & deleted the tweet. A poor nurse in the North was severely injured by a knife wielding maniac yesterday.
Thank you for clarifying the matter. Any racist material from any source will of course be deleted. The person who posted the racist message is a Cheltenham Town supporter. I gathered that much about him without having to log on to X or create an account there. I'm glad to hear the Club deleted the post.
This day in 2008 we beat Blackpool 4-1 at The Valley in front of 21k. Goals from Varney, Magic and Zhi (2) secured the victory.
Haaland (£500,000 per week) signs new Man City deal until 2034. When asked by an interviewer what his ambitions are, he said "to win the next game".
Unfortunate timing for Erling that one of the greatest men ever to play the game - Denis Law - should have passed away almost at the same time as the Norwegian lump announces his £250 million 9 and a half year contract with Man City, in a smug and stupid video. When Law retired from football he had to get a job to support his family. Haaland will never know what it's like to get his hands dirty actually earning a living. There could not be a greater contrast between what football was 50 years ago, and what it has become today. Not a change or the better, despite what the marketing men and Plutocrats would have fans believe.
I must admit I quite like Ruben Amorim https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c77r85gj45xo Not sure this is the worst Man Utd team of all time. Worst in the Premier League era perhaps. But I like the fact that he isn't afraid to say it. I hope he sticks by his 3-4-3 principles. Because without them he is nothing. Some dumb pundits were insisting he has to abandon his way of playing simply to save United from relegation. I think he is just underscoring how dreadfully mis-matched the current squad is, from the way he needs them to play. If the MUFC board has any sense they will back him in January and the Summer, and ship out their raft of spoilt, useless players. Not that I really care whether they do or not. But it's a quiet morning for other football news... PS Amorim loses out to Ruud van Nistelrooy for having the coarsest looking beard though. Ruud looks like that bearded Action Man figure hat used to be available in the 1970's. Like industrial grade Velcro glued to his boat race. You wouldn't need any of those steel wool scrubbing pads in his house. Just get him to stick his head down the pan and wobble it around a bit
