Doubtless Palarse and Wet Spam fans would agree with their owners that it's the politics of envy. It isn't for me. Personally I pity them. Granted we are in a woeful state, with just a glimmer of hope now that the next few years might be a bit better (if by some miracle we can hold onto Nathan Jones for a couple of seasons). Wet Spam though have traded their lovely old stadium, full of history and character for a Post-2012 white elephant. Their gaffer wins them a European trophy and half the fans still want him out And the whole World knows who they are now they have "LONDON" on their badge And Palarse make so little impression on the Premier League that they are a waste of space.
Nottingham Forest points deduction drops them into the relegation zone. Due to overspending tens of millions of pounds. Most of which was in the summer of 2022. Who was their Head of Scouting from January to October 2022 I wonder ? Whoever it was, I doubt they’ll get another job in football on merit. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68594865
The number of players Scott signed that summer was jaw-dropping. Who would have guessed they were dross. I imagine that NJ had a frank discussion on the subject before signing up for us. A complete overhaul of scouting and recruitment is surely on the cards this summer, with Scott looking for alternative employment. I wouldn't bet against him finding it either.
Might Charlton already have broken FFP rules for League One? We have fielded 42 different players in the league this season so far. As far as I know that's the most ever in our history - in peacetime anyway.
Forgive me for not being overcome by excitement at this news... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68602074 Rishi Sunak, pretend friend of white van man, is now the pretend friend of football fans. The Government's other regulators don't exactly have a shining track record do they. Ofwat - allowed water companies to tip unlimited excrement into our rivers Ofgen - has done nothing about ever-rising standing charges for energy Ofsted - drives a head teacher to suicide Ofside (as the football one should be called) won't be able to stand up to Sheikh Mansur or Saudi Arabia. Not if we want to keep our lucrative weapons contracts with them.
...................in the same season as we reached our worst ever position. Co-incidence? Just read that we've used an incredible 48 players in all competitions.
Howard Webb says it was right that VAR was not used to review a possible Liverpool penalty in a recent 1-1 draw with Man City... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68609867 I did not watch the game. But to settle the argument over whether or not a penalty should have been awarded, only one simple old question need be asked; Would the high boot have been a foul anywhere else on the pitch? VAR is a very expensive and a very poor substitute for common sense.
I have nothing good to say about VAR. To me it has no redeeming features whatsoever. All it does is hurt football.
This is getting way too complicated now. Why can’t all clubs just stick to the f*cking rules. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68580638
The Premier League enforcing fair play rules is the same as putting shoplifters in charge of security at supermarkets. It is time for an independent regulator. Sadly, I have no faith that the current Government or the next one will be anywhere near up to the task of creating a good one. Our modern day "leaders" cannot even find their arses with both hands.
