Referee and his family threatened after Old Firm derby... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65234008 Only a moron threatens somebody because of a football match. And only a coward does it anonymously via social media. If any of these people are identified they should have all their internet devices seized & scrapped, and be banned from using the internet for 10 years. I know that's almost impossible to enforce, but it should be done anyway.
To be honest, I don't think anonymity on the internet should be allowed anymore. To use any platform users should have to register their real and verified identity with the service provider. I don't mean so all other users can see their identity. But if they get abusive they should be reported to the authorities by the platform, as well as being banned. I know there is a privacy and civil liberties issue, but trolling & threatening people on social media is not a basic human right. If folks don't want their identity known to service providers they can stay off social media.
In the morning. Amusing comparisons to be had between Lamps and proper managers like Warnock or Woy. They go into Clubs and instantly start to turn things around. He goes into a Club that spent £600m and they lose three straight games. Chelsea are a laughing stock Their dressing room is stuffed with players who each thinks he's the best thing ever, but doesn't give a fart about playing as part of a team. Only a handful of the best managers in the world would have the gravitas to whip them into shape. But those elite managers are all busy right now. And Frank's reputation from his playing days means nothing to those mega-egos in his squad. He's way out of his depth.
Plenty. The Spurs refund is all about buying off the consciences of the crap players as a PR stunt. Just like sacking the poor sap interim boss and putting in another one. The only message it sends is that they think they're rich enough to buy off anything bad that happens to them - including fan anger. But in reality they feel bad because they're not quite rich enough to buy success as Manchester City do. Spurs really are the poor man's rich Club. Pathetic.
Credit to Arsenal for making this Prem season even moderately interesting at the top end. Man Utd have recovered enough under their new Gaffer to be top 4 again, but Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool have all had dreadful seasons. If it wasn't for the Gunners Man City would have won the Prem back in February I expect. Absolutely no credit to City as far as I'm concerned. Their unlimited wealth and immunity from all fair play rules (money talks of course) means they should buy the Prem by 20 points every season. Granted Guardiola is probably the best manager in the world. But he is only bought and paid for too. His wittering about personal integrity is a pathetic sham. He knows exactly how his Club gets around the rules to buy anything it wants. He is totally complicit in that. Man City are a plaything of the United Arab Emirates. And the influence of their unlimited financial power is poisoning the life blood of the rest of English football. A sweet tasting poison for all the money worshipping cronies on Sky and the other subscription channels. But as my doctor keeps telling me, too much sugar in your blood will kill you - slowly but surely.
Buying the Champion's League is no success in my book. City fans were busy booing the CL anthem and boycotting group stage games last I heard. Now they're going to cheer and gloat if UAE cash brings that great big Trophy to the Etihad? They need to take a look at themselves. I used to have a lot of respect for Man City fans back when they struggled in United's shadow. Even when they suffered their bad times and went down to League One, I had 100 times the respect for them than I do now.
A most unedifying sight being shown on SSN today. A procession of Leeds Utd plyers walking past a young fan with his replica kit on. The youngster is waving at the players as they walk past him. Every one of them ignores him. They've all got their headphones on and some are looking at their mobiles. To a man, at least six or seven of them cut the poor kid dead. Leeds have rushed out a pitiful apology now the video clip has gone viral. Wittering on about how much they value their fans and how they want the kid's parents to get in touch with them, so they can buy off their guilty consciences with a few freebies. This is typical of the attitude of most modern players in the top flight I think. Totally in their own worlds, listening to their muzak, totally contemptuous of anything else around them. And (in Leeds case at least) playing like pussies. They don't deserve the loyalty or admiration of that kid.
Full of their own self importance mate because they have dough. The f****** are the same as you and me, only difference is that they can kick a ball.
