That is the sort of moment that makes you wanna scream when you miss out on a player you really want.
Got a really hard game, away at Millwall, my game against the rivals, really I have to get something.
Lost in the 1st knock out stage of the champions league in my first season in it. Won 3-2 in the home leg but lost 2-1 away so it was only away goals that let me down. It was against PSG if anyone wondered.
They promoted at the first attempt, stayed in the Prem for 3 seasons, went down briefly before promoting back up and remaining a mid-table Prem team. They are currently 11th and are managed by Keith Hill. They have a nice squad, and some nice youngsters, but perhaps sign too many players for my liking. Strangely, Ward-Prowse was released on a free in 2017, after having been out on loan for five seasons to various League 1 teams, but they re-signed him 10 in 2022 after successful spells with Derby and Sunderland. Luke Shaw left on a free in 2015 and went on to have a glistening career with...AFC Telford Jack Stephens also left in the same season and actually went on to play for me at Crewe. Now he's at Swindon. Jake Sinclair went on loan for 4 consecutive seasons before leaving on a free and is now retired. Adam Lallana was sold to Blackburn for £6.25m in 2015 and had a pretty poor career after that, though he did rejoin Saints for the 2020-21 season for a fee of £95k. He is now a coach. I really hope we take better care of our young talent in real life.
Just won 0-5 at Millwall, well happy, kept only my second clean sheet this season two goals by Shotton, one head, one foot two goals by Stephens on only his second start for me, both free kicks, he is a top class player. and a goal by Joshua King.
Just won 5-0 at home against Birmingham in the 6th round of the fa cup. They are an established premier league club, played their strong team but I made 11 changes and played my reserves and youngsters. Pretty proud.
Things have taken a bit of a good turn, went into a home game with Hull who were 3rd, I was ****ting it, but after the 5 nil away win at Millwall and only the second clean sheet of the season I felt a little optimistic. Well it started ok, few shots, but nothing good, but at 39 minutes we went 1-0 up from a Emmanuel Thomas goal, then 2-0 from another one by Jay and then with 20 minutes left 3-0, a Hattrick by Jay Emmanuel Thomas, well proud of him, he only had one in 10 games, and I was not even going to play him as he was off form, this is well good now, 9th in the table and 2 clean sheets in a row and I played Stephens for the full game again and at 65 minutes I brought on Jake Sinclair for his first game and he done ok. sad thing is that I had used all 3 subs and Emmanuel Thomas got an injury and had to go off, but that was 86 minutes, He is only out for a week which is ok. Hope I can keep this good run up, going off now, Hope I can really try and finish around 14th or 15th not in a dog fight right to the end.
please log in to view this image Just noticed this... That's Real Betis as the champions of La Liga, if you have poor eyesight.
Something I agree with! The players are 2 star and put on Market for 40k and not even 1 bid comes in., then a team comes in and offers a contract only for my player to reject it... Majority of time my players are just released on frees
Forte and Dickson have both been loaned out twice an now try are both have an asking price of £200K max! Forte's valued at £1.2m! Dickson valued at ££550K And not one bid for them! Dickson is refusing to join teams coz they're offering him poor wages etc! Arggh!
Yeh I really struggled to get rid of the deadwood, majority of the time I just let players contracts run out. Going through the consistently **** winter I always have, went from an 8 game win streak to 2 wins in 6, not title winning form, currently level on points with Man City almost exactly the same goal difference. Although those wins were against Barca in my first adventure into the champions league group stage, finished second behind them, now on to OM in the first knockout round. All my success was down to one season I finished 12th, couldn't be bothered to buy anyone as there weren't any really decent options, but by keeping the same team they gelled excellently and I finished top the next season. Still got that same team and hopefully finish top this season as well!
I've managed to shake off the tendency I had to totally self-destruct during winter. I had 8 games in December (6 league and 2 Europa League), and managed to win all but two of them. My season has been very consistent and I'm into May looking at a top-6 finish with West Ham, and about to play the 2nd leg of the Europa League semi-final against Atletico Madrid, having drawn the 1st leg 1-1 at the Vicente Calderon. I've managed to build a squad with 2 quality players for each position.
6 games to go and im 1 point off 1st place. 2 of those 6 games are against Arsenal and Chelsea though ! Luckily I have a 6 point cushion over Man Utd in 3rd
I have had a lot of good luck selling players who I wanted to keep, so it is a bit like the other way round.
Right, I have a MAJOR problem with this game now. I just got to the Europa League final against Roma, and it is supposed to be held at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul. I just started the match, and it turns out it's at the Olimpico. How the **** am I supposed to beat Roma at the Olimpico?!
