I'm not going to have a go really other than to say that it will be interesting to see how he gets on next year if he stays with them.

Good luck to the 3 teams at the top of the Championship. It is going to take a total near 90 points to get the automatic places. Saints got 88, which is a high for the second auto and of course teams have missed out with that number of points and even more. So whoever is the unlucky one, I hope the club can maintain its momentum in the play-offs to get the reward.

Well, at least the loser gets to lose again in the play offs.

With Villa down, and Newcastle and Sunderland the most likely ones, the Championship should perhaps be renamed "the Land of the Fallen Giants" (Wolves, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield, Leeds, Forest and maybe Derby should they miss promotion) And the history of Villa, Newcastle and Sunderland (or Norwich should they drop) is getting back to the PL at the first attempt. So more agony for the like of Wolves. It was good that Saints had the momentum and the psychology of a PL team in the Championship promotion season.

Indeed. They were formidable that year, still wonder how we kept above them sometimes. A most beautiful 2nd place. I expect who finishes 3rd this year will be exhausted and consumed by the well rested, just my prediction.

Absolutely. It might be a moot point but WHU played some good football that season, so it was a case of WHU footballing philosophy being welded to that of Big Sam's and it worked.

But two of the 4 have very erratic form (Wednesday and Hull are limping towards their target and better look out for Cardiff who have some momentum just below them but I feel Derby might just win the play-off this season.

Interesting to see the geographical location of teams at the bottom of the Championship and top end of League 1. Bolton being replaced by Wigan and Charlton by Millwall (?)

Gaston's on for Boro. That now makes this game more interesting than the one at the Etihad.

    Bolton 1 Boro 0

Typical. Relegated, no pressure and they score.
