What worries me is the damage their moron fans will do to the reputation that we have nutured over the last couple of seasons , I hope we are not '' tarred '' by national association.....

Bigger fish indeed, and I think it will take them till November to realise that ! the normal fans understand the gravity of the situation but most of the bin dipping muppets actually think that because the Swans stormed the prem league in its first 2 seasons that the Dragons will by default do a lot better because it is after all a bigger club and capital city....<laugh>

FFS, I'm sure we all feel the same about the potential problems that might occur. All the hard work could be undone very quickly.

Norway, I agree with you on that one. You get the feeling that they think they will be a top ten team, if they think like that, then their in for a rude awakening.

Never, that's just not rhetoric , when things don't go their way and I feel sure it won't be too long into the season when that happens , the morons always revert to type ie, '' we'll never be here again so......... ''

I get the impression that they think the P.L. will be a stroll in the park for them.

They look at Swansea City, and think that they will do just as well,if not better.

A few early season tankings will make them focus on the onerous task ahead of them.

A concern we have all raised many times these last couple of months, the only thing I hope for is that the previous 2 seasons have earned us the respect we deserve, they have already hijacked the Welsh flag and they will do the people of Wales no favours with the muppets that will travel with them, it could well send the Welsh nation back years.

As long as they don't try to set fire to their own fans again !! id hate Linieker, hanson and shearer having to talk about that instead of welsh football :)

I have to admit within two weeks we have become a serious contender for a top 6 spot. Im not kidding either, Im very impressed with who we have brought in so far and i know its early days but it looks as if we will be keeping our star players also, and if bony decides to become a jack then we will be a force to be reckoned with...I think all the 3 teams that came up could well struggle to stay the distance as none of them look strong enough really. Our toughest time will be the first 6-10 matches and i dont worry about that as we will be fresh and know exactly what to expect and if we can get 15 pts in the first 10 matches then im sure we will get somewhere between 55-59pts. maybe more if we have a good start.....

Good point. That will be a litmus test and for all the wrong reasons. I will watch with great interest what happens both on and off the field !

People will laugh at this but I think our season will be a lot harder than last year, I think Laudrup was spot on when he said we had to strengthen just to stand still,i know he likes to dampen things down on purpose but I honestly think its gonna be a lot harder.

The key factor for me will be how we take points off the likes of Norwich,Hull,Cardiff, and Stoke the type of teams we have sometimes struggled against, teams who go the more direct route. I think Laudrup sussed this out 2nd half of season by the way he nullified Everton at Goodison after they raped us at the Liberty, he was very astute there I thought. It may also point to why the like of Shelvey have been signed,a midfield of him, canas and Michu with a physical Bony up front gives us so much more strength around the field and a midfield that will not be bullied by anyone.

These games will also require maximum physical effort, with Europa league that will be more difficult, but unlike previous entries into the competition we tend to keep the ball a lot better than them so will be doing less running :)

Laudrup s tactics will be key to our survival, that is the first target and will remain so for a few seasons yet.

Dai with the start we have I will be over the moon if we get 15 pts in the first 10 matches - I will settle for 10pts - 12 pts

Just found this, some interesting points that I didn't realise such as...

Cardiff were promoted with the second lowest points total since the Championship was first played under its current moniker in 2004/05.

Not only this, but the games in which they truly rammed home their dominance over their rivals were few and far between, with the Bluebirds scoring more than two goals just seven times in 46 league games.

Also the obvious points such as

Many of their most consistent starters last season were players – such as Heidar Helguson, Mark Hudson and Peter Whittingham – who have never quite taken their chance at the highest domestic level in their careers

V.pleased that, once the Cardiff press have stopped trying to trip up our team, our purchases have gone very well. I do agree with Laurdrup though - it will be very very hard to improve on last year. I really wouldn't be surprised if, after spending as we have, we might slip a place or two. I really wouldn't be worried by that - and I would still consider it to be money well spent.

Cardiff does confuse me - every so often I get riled by some foolish comments coming out but remind myself that empty drums make the most noise. There are a number of good contributors from their side and, even on that crazy thread NJ posted, there were sane fans criticising the idea that none of the Swans players would make it into their team. (That said, how many of our players would be particularly useful at hoof-ball anyway? The guy might have a point! How well would JDG do if you just punted the ball over his head? Surely Britton, Dyer and Routs aren't tall enough to be good players. Michu is quite tall, hence why he would get in their team.).

It does surprise me that Cardiff haven't moved on more players. Cornelius does look a good player - and would be an interesting pairing with Bellamy - the other lads need to prove themselves at the top level, but there's only one way of doing that. Indeed, one of the great pleasures of our first year in the prem was people like Williams, Taylor, Rangel (well everyone bar Dobbie) stepping up to the plate. We did need a few players - a centre half, striker etc - and I think they need to go a little further.

Their defence does need attention - and I'm not sure about their keeper. That said, at this level it is about the squad, so they should really be bringing in 4-5 players to drive them on and add quality to make the natural step up. People were banging on about our signings two weeks ago and now it all looks fine - could very well be the same for them over the next two weeks.
