If he hadn't of put in a transfer request we would have had to pay off the rest of his contract (circa £4m?) so the £5m is pure profit and drops our wage bill quite considerably especially if the club don't replace him (lets hope they damn well do!)

Well yes, but then he would still play for us so that money wouldn't be going down the drain.

After nearly 300 matches with the club, I won't bash him. Thanks and good luck, Jose.

I'm with whomever it was earlier in the thread. As long as they pull on a Saints shirt I'll support them. After that I'm not really interested. It's exactly the same degree of loyalty the players have.

Vin
Exactly what I have done for a few seasons now. It's why I don't get down when a player leaves. No point in getting depressed/down etc over people that don't give a ****.

West Ham have so much more potential than us, and it's not even close atm. But Fonte at his age is clearly going due to a breakdown internally, there really can't be another reason in my mind

Don't they have more potential? They have a larger stadium and fanbase which can generate a bit (not that much) more income. But with the owners they have, the money isn't being spent wisely at all. Whereas our investment has been extremely successful, this is why we have finished above them of late. They are signing 33 year olds on the decline whereas we sign players like Toby and Van Dijk.
Their transfer policy is absolutely horrendous and money is wasted at every opportunity. They are a bit of a joke of a club at the moment due to their scumbag owners (and many of the fans).

I'm actually happy for Jose that he is rinsing them for a 2.5 year contract, he deserves it.

The stadium, the fan base and the fact they are in London is why they have far more potential. These are reasons why I could see young players going there. But Fonte does not have time on his side so realistically at best they could achieve similar to what we have done the last couple of seasons in his time there.

I liked the fact that this season there was a Saints' match to watch every couple of days. Only problem is most of them were boring as ****.

Thats was so exciting. For a month. Spent the rest of it wishing for the season to be over. [HASHTAG]#Kiddingnotkidding[/HASHTAG]
