Fair play and fair comments. If he does come I really hope he is as reliable as you say he his! Good luck for the rest of season and I look forward to our next meeting (possibly next week depending on how you do tonight)!

Something productive like scour Twitter for the slightest hint of a transfer rumour and enlighten everybody with my insider knowledge? Or make more threads about slight updates in transfer sagas? Or scream from the highest mountain news my "inside source" has given me? Come on mate, we're all sat inside on an internet forum, it's not like any of us can really preach about being productive.

Have you seen the one who wants Scott Dann?! Says Adkins and Cortese are making dodgy signings and taking us backwards. Madness.

Be a bit hard to compete with arsenal and liverpool for his signature! He can't seriously be a saints fan if he thinks na and nc are taking us backwards, maybe he's a bit backwards!

I am a city fan that falls into your category of take the money. I think his best days are behind him and I will be a little surprised if he passes his medical given that he has had major issues with his ankles the last few seasons. At the end of Last season when he was out when said that he may have to retire because of how bad the injury was. He has returned this season but played one game and then been out again with another ankle injury and has yet to play another game since so I am shock to hear that another club is going to buy him but maybe a new location might help him get over his injuries and get back some form.
Good luck to him and if your form continues he may be back in the Prem next season.

    saintadam1981 you are too placatory.

What you need to know is that Dan got up late, stubbed his toe on the bathroom door, cut himself shaving, had a row with his wife, got let down by his transport, was late for work and got a bollocking, got caught on the internet looking at this site when he should have been working and got another bollocking from his boss, discovered he forgot his packed lunch and has had to go hungry so no wonder he is really grumpy this morning.

I, however, am my usual cheerful self and am thoroughly pissed off with transfer speculation. The only person I know who hasn't been linked to the Saints this window is Mrs Godders and there are some on here who would argue that she is a better player than any of the centre backs we have on our books or plan to sign.

I am always astounded that there are so many Saints fans who consider themselves to be leading authorities on individual players. I can only assume that they have played professional football and have extensive managerial experience of at least this league and that Nigel and Nicola should consult them before they even think of putting in a bid!

Last Saturday I sat behind a bloke who berated Guly for the whole match. He was about 16 stone and aged about 23. I don't think he had ever kicked a football in his life and all of the comments he spouted were sound bites from TV pundits. I am sure he is one of the contributors on here.

Give me bloody strength. Guly was our best player on Saturday.

As I write this I am listening to a programme on Radio 4 about the Portsmouth Sinfonia. The whole hysterical programme is about how blooming awful they are, a bit like their local the local football team then.

His best days are behind him? At 25 I'd certainly hope not!

Will be GUTTED IF THIS IS TRUE

£1million for Fontaine? when Gorkss was at a similar price and clearly much better. What are we thinking! The signings so far have been good, Cork for example, but Fontaine who currently has an ankle injury? Doesn't make sense to me? Played many games in the championship for Bristol City and no-one has yet tried to sign him?

'Fontey' and 'Fontayne' would also not work! I for one am out! hahahhaa

Any CB we sign has the chance to play alongside Fonte, so if he is a good championship CB currently (as Fontaine), then I would expect him to look even more solid and probably improve. This will also have the added benefit of allowing Jose to focus on his game as he won't have to have half an eye on a slightly inexperienced partner. All in all, it could be really good. I don't recall seeing much of Fontaine, although I do recall while a youngster (at Fulham??) he had a strong reputation.

In NA I trust and hopefully a signing he wants.

Gorkss is off to Reading. McDermott says on their OS he wants an experienced head to come in and calm the young defence down.

I trust the guys in charge of this club for a change. Let's get to January, and see what we think of the new guy then.

Total trust in Adkins and especially in Cortese. However, 800k plus 200k in add ons seems steep? Especially for someone with not a massive reputation and an ankle injury and when you consider Gorkss was around 900k?

Hope we are proved wrong, however Gorkss and Maynard/Rodriguez sounds much more appealling than Fontaine and Waghorn

Okay so the rumoured price for Gorkss was about £1m but Fontaine is 4/5 years younger (and not exactly miles behind, he is definitely a solid player!) and let's not forget, in today's market, £1m is a good price for any player. The same amount we paid for Wayno...

Whenever I pronounce Fonte correctly (ie Font not Fontay) I get funny looks. :(
